It never really gets hot enough for that anyway! We're quite a windy island and the weather changes quite often. |
No humidity??? I'd love that. I absolutely detest humid weather (and it is horrible in NY right now!!) I like the idea of windy weather and no humidity... I think I'm coming over! _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure. ~ Alan Rickman |

Our humidity is like 68% right now, which doesn't sound like much (I thought it was more like 90%!) but it's 88 degrees (@7:30 PM) and the weather report says "feels like 93" with the heat index. our summers suck in the midwest, don't they Meredith??
I"m surprised our weather makes it across the Atlantic! you'd think it would blow itself out by then... _________________ ~~~Nora~~~

Our summers can be really awful. The heat is killer at times. It really does drive me insane. But then again, we can't really be sure what we are gonna get.. _________________ "I'm a lot less serious than people think,

ME TOO! I'm currently in southern Florida and it's like the bloody equator for christssakes! It's hard to breathe outside sometimes! and straight hair? forget about it! You have to run from indoors to the car and from the car to indoors..and even in that 30 seconds the frizz takess overrr! lol it's horrible during the summer, but it's always warm and humid. except our one or two weeks of "cold" weather that we call a "winter" lol haha _________________ "You people. Yeah. It's great we have little humidity......they don't even measure it here and mention it in weather reports like they must do in the USA....trouble is we have a lot of rain....it just gets warmer in the summer. We don't often get decent snow....we just get "BLEURGH!!!" weather. Having said that, it is gloriously sunny today, so it's going to prove me wrong isn't it!!??!! _________________ Alan Rickman...*sigh*... enough said.

I think it also depends on where in England you are. I only lived there (in the South East) for 8 months, so that's probably not that representative, but my impression was that the English weather is better than its reputation. There were two weeks of rain and stormy weather in autumn, but it didn't get cold in winter, and, in contrast to Germany, you get to see the sun in winter quite often, and changes in temperature aren't that extreme. I didn't have to turn on the heating till late November. Where I live, the weather is cloudy and grey in winter on most days. Changes in the weather here often give me headaches or colds, but I only had one single cold all winter and no headaches in England. _________________

Fortunately we don't have much humidity to speak of here either, the air is always quite dry. And that really is great, cause I don't think poor Charlie could handle any humidity, he is having trouble breathing when it's warm already.
We are really spared from any kind of really bad weather here at the east coast of the country, if something comes in from the Atlantic it usually stays at the west coast. We did have some thunder here early this morning (when I was walking home from a wonderful party at a friends house...) and it rained for about two minutes. It is crazy dry out, so lots and lots of rain would be good! |

I think I must live in the wet and yucky bit then!!
The South East does seem to have better weather than a lot of England. In the summer it's always the hottest bit of the country!! Where I am tends to get the brunt of winds etc coming off the Atlantic.
To be honest though...wherever you live ,there's probably always something about the weather you don't like!! _________________ Alan Rickman...*sigh*... enough said.

Yes, true, and the grass will always sound greener somewhere else! (although from all the pictures I've seen, I really believe that the grass IS greener in England than it is here...and I know it is in Ireland!)
In July and August, our grass is brown and crunchy, BTW. _________________ ~~~Nora~~~

Saw in the news today about some severe flooding in the midwest!! Houses being dragged away in the high rivers. Hope all the Divas out there are OK.

It's so stinking flat here, it would take Noah's flood to wash our house away!! but, there are some streams that flood in spring, and every few years someone is swept away.
but over around St. Louis, it gets bad with the Mississppi, Missouri, and Mermac Rivers. and the caves, which people get trapped in. the waters seem to rise so fast in the hills there, it really surprises people.
More storms predicted Friday, and Matt has a cookout planned for his birthday, hope it holds out til he's done! _________________ ~~~Nora~~~

It was such a huge thunderstorm here yesterday! I knew it was coming cause I had such a bad headache and I always do when there's thunder in the air. So yesterday afternoon it started, first it was just the thunder, I'm not really afraid of it but for some reason I find just thunder scarier than when it rains too.
But than it started to rain, and Lord have mercy- it rained so much! Huge raindrops and it looked like a waterfall. And such loud thunder, you just felt it in your whole body. And it never stopped, it just kept at it for more than three hours, the thunder went away for a while but than it came back for an encore, louder than ever!
It was cool and kind of scary at the same time.
Other parts of the country had it even worse, there were hail the size of golf-balls! At least we just had the rain.
Freaky weather! |

I like thunderstorms, which is good, because we have them quite often. Just had another one yesterday, in fact. It knocked out power in town, even at the hospital. We have a generator that takes over, but it messed up alot of computer stuff...so it was inconvenient all night. _________________ ~~~Nora~~~
