I just witnessed the STRANGEST bit of weather I've ever seen! I was outside walking the dog, and I heard what sounded like waves crashing. It was sprinkling out a little bit, but nothing too major... but then I looked out down the road a bit, and saw what looked like a sheet of water falling only a few feet from my house. So I stepped out onto the road, and walked down a way, and was literally able to step from a light misty rain, into a downpour, and then back again! WEIRD!!

Now, tho, I hear the thunder rumbling, so I think a full-fledged thunderstorm is on its way!

The weather have been really strange here too lately, it is just too hot! I mean, it usually is warm here in the summer, but this is crazy hot, feels like we are in a country way further south! I'm not for it at all. And the air is just so heavy, it fells like thunder is on it's way, but we never get any. Except for a cuple of weeks ago when we had like the thunderstorm of the century, and it never went away! It was good to be inside...
I think the thunder needs to come back and clear the air.
Journalista, did you get a thunderstorm?

No, the thunderstorm never came, but the sky was full of heat lightening for at least two hours. It was just very weird... This summer has been weird. Has the moon been strange to anyone? It's been red here a couple of times, and other times HUGE, like it was about to crash into the earth!

Hmm... Strange days indeed...

It is quite hot here at the moment as well, although it does happen in Britain, but it's humid heat which makes it very uncomfortable. We also keep getting loads of thunderstorms as well. I haven't noticed anything strange with the moon, although I'm sure if there was something majorly wrong a scientist would have noticed it by now. They have people checking to see if asteroids are going to hit us in the next ten years, hopefully they keep an eye on things a bit closer to home as well! It is hard to guage what is normal here. I find british summers to be quite unpredictable, don't know what the other brits here think!

Going all sciency here! The moon can appear red due to dust particals in the atmosphere, so that isnt worrying really, just high pollution over your city I expect. The moon does sometime seem bigger, the orbit isnt circular but eliptical so sometimes it is a little nearer to earth. Dont worry its not gonna crash into us. If you are worried check out the NASA website.

Talking of sciency stuff, have you heard about the scientists in sweden who are trying to create a miniature black hole? Apparantly they're just getting the machinary to the right temperature. I know that people are trying to figure out how these things work, which has to be respected, but creating a black hole seems to be a little dangerous to me, whether it's a baby one or not. These things have only ever been viewed through a telescope, there really is no way of predicting what might happen. Although, I'm told they recreated the conditions of the sun somewhere, so the fact that they've done that and nothing went wrong is slightly reassuring....... Laughing

I'll have to ask my son about that, Skittle. He's really into sciencey stuff. (He has explained that whole moon thing before)
There's a website he hangs out at, I can't think of the name, but it has all sorts of latest science geeky news on it, tracks the space station, what planets are visible, etc.
sometimes he drags me outside to look at them, they all look the same to me!
But I agree, what if the baby black hole starts sucking things in, and grows, and sucks us all in....
watch out up there in Sweden, Marie!

Nahhh... I don't think the moon is going to crash into the Earth... it just looks that way.

As to the pollution... Hmmm... I live about as far out in the country as anyone can get, so I'm not sure that's what's causing it here. Maybe the fumes from the cow poop!! Laughing Laughing

As to the black hole thing, I just don't know what to think... that's a little bit like messing with the whole space-time continuum, Marty! Very Happy

I don't watch sci-fi, but even I know you never, ever mess with the whole space-time continuum!

Precisely!!! we just shouldn't be messing with things without thinking about long term consequences......and if the scietists don't know what they could be, then just leave it alone!

It was raining so much here earlier this morning! I was driving to work, it usually takes like 15 minutes, today it took half an hour...
And I had to drive a different way, there is this stupid golf competition going on so the regular road is closed.
From time to time I could'nt see anything! I was on the verge of crying the whole time, but crying would just have made things even worse....
I have never been so happy arriving at work!

Rain here too...again. This truly has been the summer that never was. Lots and lots of rain. Luckily it was mostly sunny at the cottage last week and we had a few really hot days.
