I've seen this movie before, a long time ago, but I needed to watch it again, especially after watching "Perfume" the other night! Wow, I love Jamie.
Alan is so gorgeous in this movie, and he plays Jamie so wonderfully. You can see how much he loves Nina and how happy he is to be with her again, but how he wants her to be happy. And that scene at the end...
still don't like the big "stache" but on Jamie....I do love his hair, tho...

I´m actually kind of fond of "hairy Alan"! Just look at my avatar! |

This has to be one of my favourite films! Jamie is wonderful. Alan is so sexy and they do not even get out of their clothes.
And I love Alans version of "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore". _________________ Alan Rickman('s) Acting touches nerves you have absolutely no control over. |

Oh my gosh, I love this film so much. I first saw it when I was almost 16 and I fell in love with it immediately. It was the first time that I had seen Alan in a romantic role (I saw S&S later) and I was astonished at how well he pulled it off. I pretty much fell in love with him. Juliet Stevenson is fantastic in this film - the scene where she cries to the therapist is so sad, it's probably the most realistic crying I have ever seen.
I honestly don't remember a time where I have watched this one (there have been a lot of viewings) when I haven't got at least a little misty eyed. It's just beautiful, and so well made.
I watched this last week, but I think I might have to crack it out again...! |

I watched this film again a couple of days ago....I cried too.....The acting is so fantastic, realistic, and it's so well written, it moves me every time.
Adored Alan's singing too....THAT voice loses nothing in it's tone when he sings!!!!!!
The saddest part, for me though, is when Juliet Stevenson is sitting at the piano, and she sees the first rat reappear.......and she realises Jamie has gone again...I cry then...what a big softie!! One of my favourite films! _________________ Alan Rickman...*sigh*... enough said.

I just ordered TMD from amazon.com a few days ago! I'm so excited. I think it's our region (whichever that is, I always forget) but if not, I think we have the DVD player converted, or my laptop might be able to play it.
I paid more for it than I will ever tell my husband, but what he doesn't know won't hurt him! (with shipping, it was $51 USD, I chose the faster shipping for $5!)
I can't wait for it to get here, then I'll have my very own Jamie! _________________ ~~~Nora~~~

Wow that is a lot of money to pay - that's true dedication! I was pretty close to pay about that much for a copy of Close My Eyes, but I have held off - at least until I have a real disposable income.
I just re-read my post from months ago and realised that I have been an Alan fan for about 6 or 7 years, which probably doesn't seem that long to all of you, but I am only 21, so for me that seems like ages. I think this will be a life long fascination. _________________ :.*My Flavour Of Choice? Alan. Of The Rickman Variety*.: |

@ Nora
Don't scold yourself, TMD is worth every single penny you pay for it. It is a wonderful film. Though you will have to invest into a box of tissues as well. I hope you can watch it soon. USA is Region 1
@ Velouria
I think six or seven years is a good time for a 21 years old woman. I turned into a fan when I first saw him as Snape. Even though I had seen at least 60% of his films at the cinema or from the video rentals, I did not get hooked. The moment a person I have not met becomes an important part of my life and joy and fun is a very special moment. And seven years is quite some time. A lot of marriages do not last that long. You seem to be a faithful person. _________________ Alan Rickman('s) Acting touches nerves you have absolutely no control over. |

Thanks Magenta, I try...
In all honesty I think we are all very faithful as we think of Alan each day and come here to this community to talk about him. There's a lot of love on these boards. _________________ :.*My Flavour Of Choice? Alan. Of The Rickman Variety*.: |

I was going to get "Close My Eyes" for that price too (or near enough).....but I couldn't really justify it! I don't have an excessive amount of money to spare....so it can wait for my birthday....I'll ask for cash, and then buy it!!!! _________________ Alan Rickman...*sigh*... enough said.

Hi Jacksl,
on amazon.co.uk there is Close My Eyes Region 2 for 14.99 Pounds Sterling and there are 6 pieces.
There is a region 1 version for over 100 Pounds, that is beastly. _________________ Alan Rickman('s) Acting touches nerves you have absolutely no control over. |
