|
|
Hi. I just heard the third episode of your podcast and I just wanted to let you know about an awesome song called "Not Alan Rickman" written and performed by Adam Leonard.
It has a bunch of Alan's roles mentioned in it and it's upbeat.
I thought it might be just the thing you're looking for.
I can email it to you or it can be found at this site under Audio:

Wish I found you guys sooner this is great!
LYRICS:
Not Alan Rickman
Music and Lyrics by: Adam Leonard
A skyscraper with Bruce Willis in it
his nemesis: German terrorist
but it's not Alan Rickman
not Alan Rickman, no
it's just a character in a film.
Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman
swashbuckle the Sheriff of Nottingham
but it's not Alan Rickman
not Alan Rickman, no
it's just a character in a film
based on a myth.
A duel with Branagh sporting a black cape
the silkily evil Professor Snape
but it's not Alan Rickman
not Alan Rickman, no
it's just a character in a film
based on a book
from someone's head.
truly, madly, deeply it is not Alan Rickman
truly, madly, deeply it is not Alan Rickman
truly, madly, deeply it is not Alan Rickman
truly, madly, deeply it is not Alan Rickman _________________ "...that he may endeavor to deserve her..."

| Yeah, I'd been thinking about that one. Especially since he released a remaster of it. The podcast has kind of gone by the wayside, but I'll hopefully at least get to doing some random updates now and again. |

That is a shame.
It was such a brilliant idea.
You even had the perfect "radio host voice" as well
Well, cheers for giving it a try! _________________ "...that he may endeavor to deserve her..."

Do I really? I always think I sound too nasal.
The podcast isn't a complete goner yet, I think I have to find someone who wouldn't mind doing a segment in each show so that I actually have enough material to fill a decent episode. |

Not sure yet. I guess I'm just waiting for someone to come up with something good. |

How about most awkward sayings from fans?
Hehe it warms my heart to know there are creepier AR fans out there than I.
Much much creepier...
Good luck!
One serious suggestion though, we all know how Alan likes to raise money for good causes. I say why only do it on his birthday? I think a permanent collecting website would be good to set up and mention on your episodes if you start them back up. Maybe people can suggest and vote on which charities to raise money for and switch it every certain amount of months...
Just a thought. _________________ "...that he may endeavor to deserve her..."

| I'd love to do that, but it's hard to mobilize when there's not an event. At least round his birthday I can say "hey, Alan's turning (insert age here), let's give him a present!", you know? I'll put it under consideration though. |

Perhaps a segment on the charity itself? Stories about what it does and who it does it for? Maybe why it's connected to Alan and how we can give others happiness as Alan gives it to us...
A bit over the top with sentiment, but you catch my drift.
I do agree that it would be a difficult venture, but I like to believe that AR fans are a cut above the rest.
But I'll be quiet now

my two cents here...if it's worth that!
The Michael Crawford Fan Association is very big on fund raising, getting very close to $1 million dollars (or pounds, not sure which)at this time. He has several charites that he is associated with, and has asked that his fans contribute to them as opposed to presents to him or whatever. They have raffles, ebay autions, etc. He quite often contributes autographed memorabilia for them, photos, theater stuff (even some things he's worn in Phantom, etc). It's fun, and raises quite a bit of money for the children's charities.
Just a thought!

The Michael Crawford Fan Association is like the official fan club though, isn't it? It's a hell of a lot easier for groups like that to do that kind of thing.
Not that I'm saying I'm opposed to doing it, it's just that the logistics are mind boggling. I could try a Christmas donation. It would be grand if he could donate something that I could auction off, but getting in touch is not quite so easy. I'll try and contact his assistant to see if I can get anywhere on that line. |

| yes it is official and "sanctioned" etc. So it is easier. They have his permission for all of that. I can't really see Alan doing that, although if it is a cause that he believes in, maybe he would. Don't know about logistics, I'm afraid I'm not a very logical or organised person! |

Hmm, wouldn't Alan give us his permission to do it? I think it would be a very good idea! If not, then the Christmas donation would be really nice.
I'm looking forward to listening to those episodes when I'm at my own computer at home! _________________ -- Rima

| I'm just not sure how much Alan is into all this sort of stuff. I know he believes in his causes, but as far as getting into involvement with the fans, I didn't know. |
