Yep - it has two of my favourite actors, Alan and Nigel Hawthorne, in it and it's absolutely fantastic! YOu can download clips from here, I think...

| Definitely worth the money! At first I bought just for Alan, but the whole thing is absolutely fantastic. I watched the whole thing in about 2 or 3 days. I even got my mother hooked into it. |

I have it in my queue from Netflix, but it is down the line a little. I had to space out my Alan films and order a few things for my husband, he was complaining.
I'm looking forward to it. I do get hooked on series, I used to watch Ballykissangel on BBC America and loved it. I found the whole series at Netflix, so I'm ordering that, too. Too bad Alan's not in it!!

That's why I belong to Blockbuster and my husband belongs to Netflix. He has no interest in anything I like... and one can only watch so many documentaries on the Industrial Revolution and the joys of Modern Machinery... He is SOOOOO boring.
However, I think I'd watch a documentary on Belly Button Lint if Alan were to narrate it... _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure. ~ Alan Rickman |

Belly button lint?? What a great idea! I think we should get the script together and pitch it to Alan, I'm sure he'd do it and we'd have a hit on our hands! All of us Rickman girls would buy it!
My husband watches the Military Channel, hunting shows, sci-fi....BORING!

Well, I've watched the 1st DVD of The Barchester Chronicles, very good so far. I love Donald Pleasance (sp?)
I agree very much, that Alan looks so much better older than he did in this show. I think he was about 36? right?
He looks much better with some age on his face, his later 40's and 50's and I still like the way he looks now.
But, he's very snotty and nasty in this series, isn't he??
I'll have to wait for the next installment, have to share Netflix with the boys, you know!!

Hey Nora!! I couldn't agree more!
I've just watched the whole series over a few days, and I loved it!
Donald Pleasence was a great character....a very gentle soul, I thought!
Alan was superb, as usual! Obadiah Slope was a vile character, but wonderfully played!
I don't usually like shows like this, but there was something incredibly endearing about the show....and although he was "bestial" I felt sorry for Slope and would have loved to have "saved" him from himself!!! _________________ Alan Rickman...*sigh*... enough said.

Perhaps, but I'm not sure if buying by the Internet is completely safe _________________
