This was the first big cinema film I watched that had an impact on me. Especially Alan Rickman's (the then recently unheard of in my life!) Sheriff. He was fantastic.
What do other's think of his breakthrough role? _________________

He is absolutely fabulous in this role. Definitely one of my top 3 Alan characters.
I first watched that movie as a kid (no drooling over AR at that time), and I did so lurve the Sheriff (it has later occured to me that this role might in fact be the one that triggered my notorious love for bad guys *snort*).
After my obsession with AR began, and I realized that he played the Sheriff, my liking teh man sort of rocketed to even greater heights.
George could spoon me anytime. |

I was like you when I saw that movie.
I was like "that guy rocks! He's really funny, screw Costner!" _________________

Idem !
The Sherif is sooo awesome ! My fav character after Brandon. Or maybe my fav even before Brandon.
I love this movie so much ! When I was in boarding school, my roommate shared my passion for RHPoT, and we had so much fun talking about it ! ( and gossiping about Costner )
I went to Carcassone last summer, where they shot castle scenes... I walked on the Sheriff's steps ! 8D _________________

Yeah it was, Nottingham's castle is in France 8D ( it's written at the end of the film credits )
I've got pics of me in places where the Sheriff was >w<
There's a funny thing to see in the castle, a 'fake' movie made with bits of movies shot in Carcassonne ( there are lots of them ). It's called Robin Hood vs Joan of Arc XD
And the Sheriff appears twice, if I remember well. First time I had the chance to see him on a large screen, even for about ten seconds ^^ _________________

Absolutely Love the Sherriff. Alan completely stole the film from under Costners nose!!
Some very funny lines I like 'now sew.......and keep the stitches small' and of course the immortal ' and call off christmas'

The whole time I watched the movie (several times!) I got so disgusted with Costner... he didn't even TRY to be authentic. It was like watching "Kevin Costner Plays Robin Hood" instead of him becoming the character. He's not believable at all.
The only good things about this movie (IMHO) are Alan's scenes. Especially the 'splitting the legs' scene at the end!!
And, the closeup of Alan's hand right before the swordfight! (The man has BEAUTIFUL hands!!!!)

I loved Alan's protrayal of the Sheriff, he did an amazing job and he seemed to enjoy himself. I also liked Morgan Freeman in this film-he has been a favorite actor of mine since I watched him in the movie "Lean On Me". I have never liked Kevin Costner, and didn't enjoy watching him at all. _________________

The film was pretty bad, but I loved the character. It is one of my favourite Alan characters.
The scene at the beginning is the best. _________________ Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government!

| I love Alan in this role! It was brilliant to watch him, his facial expressions, his whole portrayal. I always waited for his next scene and didn't even care if Kevin Costner (who was "the" hero and great and clever...and BORING!!!) died or anything. |

| I haven't seen this in such a long time. I saw this before I was gah, gah over Rickman. I need to watch it again. I do remember the sheriff making an impact though. he was so good in that role. |

every single person I know who saw that movie hated Kevin Costner. Seriously...what was up with his lack of accent?
The extended, special edition DVD has soooo many scenes that got cut from the movie that just made me
So many great quotes |

He said that he tried the accent and just couldn't do it, so he gave it up. |
