I am shocked this film is not mentioned here yet. It was, after all, his breakthrough role, and the film he is most famous for. He even said that he wished the Sheriff could have gotten away with it...
So, lets discuss. _________________

Hi, Hermione,
Yes, the Sheriff is one of my favorites, too. I LOVE how he stole the movie away from Costner. Loved the hair, too!
What's your favorite scene? I love the duel (I kept rooting for Nottingham!) and the wedding between the Sheriff and Marian.
This film is one of my favorites only because of Alan. I did like Morgan Freeman, though. He was convincing as the Moor.
Cheers,

I love this movie sooo much. I had a roommate who was a big fan of that movie too, we had so much fun talking about it...
My favorite part is the duel, of course. And every time I watch it, I jump up and down with enthusiasm hoping the Sheriff will win... But no, every time, he get himself killed by an awful cheat
I also love the church part very much. The Spoon >w< <3
Oh, and I love his clothes too :3 _________________

My favourite scene is:
"Wait a minute! Robin Hood steals money from my pocket, forcing me to hurt the public, and they love him for it?" Scribe nods his head and the goblet of wine gets chucked in his face. "Thats it then! Cancel kitchen scraps for lepers and orphans... No more merciful beheadings... and call of Christmas!" Storms down the stairs. "Night and day I get people banging on my door for lower tax relief and safer passage through Sherwood Forest."
"It's the cheapest road to London sire!"
"It's the only road to London you miserable little ferret!"
"Sir Guy's patrols have found nothing, sire?"
He notices someone put a scar on the statue of himself and takes the scribes cap and spits on it to rub the scar off the statue.
"No camp. Nothing! This hooded viper simply slithers in taking everything I got leaving me nothing to show for when the barons arrive here!" He is unsuccessful with erasing the scar, and turns around and see's two women sewing in an alcove. "You my room, ten forty... you ten forty five. Bring a friend!"
Yep, I could almost rewrite the script. _________________

I loooove this scene >w< He's just too sexy in it !
And hilarious ^^
ps : I can rewrite the script too. I know all of his role by heart. I recorded his scenes on a tape when I was in boarding school, so I can listen to it during the week, when I had no tv 8D _________________

I love the first scene. The other scenes is hot as well, but I don't like the film in general very much. That's why most of the times, I just watch the first scene. _________________ Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government!

I agree. I don't like the film in general. I think Kevin Costner sucks as Hood, but *clears throat* anyway. I fast forward through most of the film and just watch the parts with Alan. ^_^

I agree with your view on Costner's suck-age with this one. I usually have the TV on mute for his scenes.
Have you been able to see the Deluxe Edition DVD at all? They've added in all the scenes with Alan that were taken out. To die for! He really does take over the movie, and it is completely worth it.
And Hermione, you write that scene so well! I absolutely adore when he lunges about like that... *sigh*

I have the Special Edition, it's great because instead of having a section with deleted scenes out of context, they put them back in the film where they are supposed to be. Alan was a scene stealer before I got that, and after he totally dominated. There is also that interview on the second disc and a documentary with Pierce Brosnan, you see him quite a bit and they actually talk to him as well. It was definitely worth every penny I spent for it and more.
Btw, I also disliked Kevin Costner in this film. _________________

The special edition disc is definately worth the extra money. Purely for having those deleted scenes back in their proper place!! Its no wonder KC got miffed with Alan, he definately stole the film from under him. Totally out acted.

Santa brought me the special edition a few years ago and I love it !
The Sheriff looks even more insane, with the new scenes
I especially love the part when he's dancing on the table, he's so cute when he's drunk 8D
The only thing I don't like about it is just a 'french' problem : they changed the french voices because of the new scenes, and it's awful, now. T'was the only Alan movie I liked to watch in English and in French too. Bleh. _________________

I apologise for just butting in to the thread in this way; but in the picures thread (utterly gorgoeus thread btw, definately swoonworthy!) someone mentioned something about Costner wanting Alan's scenes cut from the film, and a backstory about him not appreciating Alan stealing the film (which he undoubtedly does!)... can anyone tell me the whole story with regards to that?

How do I recognize the special edition with the additionalk scenes right in place before opening the wrapping? Is there a ISBN or something to tell it apart from the simple one?

For Magenta: The cover of the special edition says at the very top "TWO-DISC SPECIAL EDITION". At the bottom it says "Extended Version". I ordered mine online from Amazon (I think. It's been awhile).
For thinkofengland: I just remember when the movie came out about Costner being upset about lovely Alan being so much better than him. I can't remember anything more specific than that. I have read the mention of it in different biographies I've found of AR's, however. Here's the link to one of them:
http://www.tiscali.co.uk/entertainment/film/biographies/alan_rickman_biog.html
Hope that helps.

I don't like Kevin Costner at all, and i think it was obvious that Alan was the star of the movie.
I can't understand the lady in the movie either. If Alan (no matter what character he plays) wants to make a baby with you, you are a complete retard if you say no. _________________ I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses.
