Hey ladies (I'm assuming we all are, but please let me know if there are any guys among us!)-

I just want to say that I think Rickman Girls are some of the best women around. I have to say that while this forum's focus is Alan, we have also become a close-knit community of friends who truly care about one another, regardless of age, location, or life situation. I have met so many wonderful people here and I really look forward to coming here and visiting all of you. I appreciate the advice, laughs, and friendship. And in "lurking" around other forums, I've noticed a certain level of cattiness and sometimes outright nastiness that doesn't seem to happen here. So I guess the purpose of this thread is just to show appreciation of one another and for pats on the back, and to reaffirm that Rickman Girls Rock!!! Very Happy

Thanks, everyone.

That's a great idea! "Rickman Girls" T-shirts. I bought iron-on transfer paper for my printer a few days ago, so I guess I'll make myself a T-shirt. If I come up with a good design, I'll love to share it with you.

I wholly agree with Journalista. There are many nice people in this forum, as well as in other Rickman fans forums.

In my opinion, Rickman fans are usually very interesting, creative people who do more than just drool, and that's because Alan gives us a lot of material: his stage and film work, his support for the arts, his charity work, interviews and more. He is a gentleman who cares about other people, about what's happening in other parts of the world, and who’s also nice to his fans.

There are many actors who have nothing more to offer than just a pretty face. The attraction that many fans like me feel for Alan is not merely physical - it does not depend on his looks or age.

... though I can’t deny that I also find him ravishingly sexy. Wink

Aw, what an awsome post.

Yeah, it is very rare you find a board where there is people who are not immature. I love this place. Glad I stumbled on it while surfing for a Rickman messageboard.

What can I say, us ladies have class. Well, save for when I'm holding a bucket next to me drooling over the man Laughing

Peace to you all Very Happy

I noticed you were nearing the "Diagnosed" level! Hurray for you!!!

If I'm ever on your side of the ocean, I'll most definitely stop by for tea. I like almost any kind, but have a penchant for Darjeeling and Earl Grey. Wink

@Ana- You are so right about Rickman fans! We are a different breed of fangirls, for sure. All the ladies I've met here are brilliant, creative, and kind. We know quality when we see it, that's for sure! Wink I like the idea of the Rickman Girl design. I'd definitely make a T-shirt from one of your graphics, and wear it proudly! That would be awesome! Cool

Thanks Journalista. Feel free to use any of my graphics you like.

I'll try to make a Rickman Girl T-shirt. I'm really enthused with Nora's suggestion. And if others want to make one too, we could post the
T-shirt pictures in the Fan Art forum.

Got to get back to work. I have to finish a 68,479-word translation by the end of the day! Help!!! Crying or Very sad

Hi Ana,
what sort of text do you have to translate?

In another life I translated manuals, mainly for computers and software. I still enjoy work with language, but unfortunately the market for translators or interpreters is rather dire here. Companies do not like to pay for translations. That was when I turned to another profession.

But I started tutoring children who have problems with their English school work. This is a weird but very satisfying hobby.

Hi Magenta.

I was translating a document about heart diseases... lovely subject Rolling Eyes

I specialize in medical and pharmaceutical translations (English into Spanish), but also translate other types of documents. I hate legal translations, but sometimes I make those too.

My only complaint about my work is that I hardly have time to do anything else. I skip too many nights of sleep and haven't had a weekend, holiday or vacation in a long, long time. It's insanse.

... and it's beginning to take a toll on me.

I sub-hire translators. Wink

Well it will have to be Darjeeling. (In case we have talked about everything we can think of, we can watch Snow Cake to go with the Darjeeling.) I myself prefer Assam the way Brittons drink their tea. But if you are going to stay for a few days I am willing to get you some Twinnings Earl Grey, if you really want that stuff.

Really, any kind of tea is okay with me... except licorice... it tastes like cat pee... Wink

I can't make a pot of coffee to save myself! I was always spoiled by my mother who makes the best, most addictive coffee in NY... So I never learned to properly make it myself.
