Eustacia-
Glad you've joined us and happy to have you as a Rickman Girl!!! You'll see that we're a pretty united group here, and we don't have cliques or "newbies" or whatever. Once you hop on the Rickman Rollercoaster, you're along for the ride with the rest of us!
So sit back, relax, and enjoy! _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure. ~ Alan Rickman |

@journalista: I'm really amazed at the wonderful group spirit here. I don't think there is any other forum in which I stopped feeling like a newbie in my first week. Thank you all for that _________________

You are absolutely right. I really depair in other forums, people rarely read your posts and reply when you are new. Here, that just isn't a problem. If there was an award for forum of the year, I know where my vote would be going.
Thank you everyone for making this so much fun _________________ :.*My Flavour Of Choice? Alan. Of The Rickman Variety*.: |

I know exactly what you guys mean. The atmosphere is so friendly. ANd we can talk about anything we want, from the gorgeous Alan to how our day went to sharing a short story we just wrote. This site is absolutely ahmazing. I give it my vote too.

I used to be a member of this forum for the band AFI and the people who had been on there for years would only speak to the other original members - true there were thousands of members online at a time, but they just didn't seem to make the effort to be friendly or include people. This meant that the newer members would get mad and then just spend their time making angry or aggressive posts. AND many people who joined would join just to say that AFI were terrible (they used far more offensive vocabulary) and anyone who started a thread in the 'other bands' section would be told immediately by someone that their other band sucked. It was a very hostile forum and full of pretentious people who that because they had more posts they were better fans and that their opinions were more valid. It gives rock-punk fans a bad name.
So, that's why I am so at home here - the atmosphere is completely different and very comforting. We are a credit to Alan. _________________ :.*My Flavour Of Choice? Alan. Of The Rickman Variety*.: |

Well, girls, apparently I've always had an affinity for the British... my mom was going through some old papers of mine she'd saved from school, and found a limerick I'd written in 5th grade:
There was a young Englander named Jude,
Who his mum often found to be rude,
For at the dinner table,
He picked lint from his navel,
And replaced it with stuff he had chewed.
Apparently the teacher had gotten a charge out of it and sent it to my mom with a note that praised my ingenuity and questioned my weirdness!!
Just thought I'd share my poetic prowess with you!! _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure. ~ Alan Rickman |

@Velouria: That's incredible! Sadly, I don't think that phenomenon is restricted to punk rock forums. I used to be a member of an Australian actor's fansite, and the mod managed to delete every single post I made as a newbie on the grounds that it supposedly didn't conform to forum rules, or was posted in the wrong thread (while thread names were nicely vague... ever heard of moving a post instead of deleting it?). When they had deleted my 6th post in a row, I quit that forum.
Another forum dedicated to a German rock singer was extremely pedantic when it came to supposed copyright violations; it was enough to write a brand name (such as McDonald's or Coca Cola) to get your post deleted for copyright infringement. Sigh.
@journalista: LOL! I would have loved to see your teacher's face when he read that! _________________

| Journalista, love your limerick! If I had been a teacher and a kid had wrote something like that, I would have been thrilled! That´s not weird, that´s brilliant! |
