I loved Pans Labyrinth too....but it put me off grapes for a long time!!!
That creature quite freaked me out too.

I love reading about horror and gore, but I don't like watching it....even Sleepy Hollow is a no-no....I'm a bit soft really Laughing Laughing

Jackie -I am totally with you on that weird creature. What really freaked me out were it's hands, it was doing a sort of sick 'jazz hands' thing *shudders*. As freaky as the film was, it was fantastic though. I can struggle with horror, it really depends on the context. I cannot bear to watch children harmed, whatever age. I started to watch The Butterfly Effect -my boyfriend said it was a great film, but I couldn't get past the first 15 mins, it disturbed me more than I can say.

Usually I have more of a probalem with psychological thrillers like The Ring than violence. If something is a bit too gory to watch, you look away for that part (like some of the fight scenes in Gladiator) but with thrillers, they just get into your head. For some reason though, I often feel curious about such films- this is what led me to watch The Sixth Sense in an empty house at night, not the best of ideas!!! Laughing

The eyes-in-his-hands-guy sure was scary. That was a very intense scene.
I usually don't have any problems at all with horror, I can watch almost anything and I love a good scare at the movies. The ring, The others, Blair Witch Project and Pet Sematary are some of my favourites.
I'd love to see Alan do a horror movie! He can give me a good scare anyday! Twisted Evil
I'm with you on the psychological thing, Skittle, that is way scarier than all the gore in the world. I still can enjoy films like Hostel and Saw and the whole torture genre, but I like to watch it for the effects. I love the dvd extras when you get to see how it all was made!

The thing I have a problem with in films are animals, especially dogs, in trouble.
I have seen Independence Day many many times, and still get all nervous that Boomer isn't going to make it to that little room in the tunnel...

I don't deal well with horror, or Nicholas Cage, as stated before.
and I can't handle the whole dog thing.
I saw I Am Legend, because it's a Will Smith movie, and I love Mr. Smith Wink , but it was too suspensy for me, and as soon as I saw the dog, I started worrying... Crying or Very sad
will never watch it again.

as I've mentioned before, I still worry about Toto, even though I KNOW he made it out of Oz just fine!

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad ...Sam in "I am Legend"... Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

That was the WORST!! I just can't stand it when bad things happen to animals in movies!! Has anyone ever read/seen "Where the Red Fern Grows"?? I'm getting choked up as we speak!!

Oh deary me!! I must be hard, cause they don't get to me at all!

I can think " Oh, they wouldn't have hurt an animal" and I can remove them from the film...I'm too realistic sometimes....I cry at stupid things in film or TV though....Kramer v Kramer always made me cry...as does TMD......and Rasputin...hmmmm maybe I am soft after all

I am hard and soft at the same time. I can flinch at nasty bits and be disturbed to the point of not watching something, but I very rarely cry, period. Whether it is films or anything. However, there is one film that is guaranteed to bring a tear to my eye and that is Gladiator. The only time I didn't get a bit teary at that film was when I was in a classroom full of people watching it. I can be very sad, but it takes a lot to actually bring a tear to my eye Laughing

I really have got to watch that film all the way through!

It came out when I had to put the kids to bed before I could watch it. My kids have never slept well, so this was often 9-10pm before I put it on.
I've watched the first half hour about 10 times....then I'd fall asleep (see the insomnia thread)..I gave up!!!

So one day, I will try again!!

I can watch almost anything, blood and gore and limbs flying doesn't really bother me, but as soon as an animal is in trouble- I just cry my contacts out!
I was watching Volcano the other night, have seen it before so I knew that the little dog is gonna be fine, but I still cried when he is left in the house, and the lava's coming through the door and he picks up his litte toy! Sad

Ah Pan's Labyrinth is amazing! I saw it twice in the cinema. I really enjoy foreign film, although lately I have to been in just the right mood. The next one I will be watching is Delicatessen. I really like The Science of Sleep and Y Tu Mama Tambien. City of God is amazing, but quite violent.

Horror for me is all on my mood. Last night I watched Cloverfield and The Thing - I was really up for it. But sometimes my imagination can't take it. I love gothic horror though. I'm always in the mood for that!

Personally, I think you can't really compare Alan with Nicolas Cage, they're totally different types. I probably wouldn't swoon about Nicolas Cage or write a fanfic about his characters, but I like him as an actor too, especially in Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.

At least you can have Nicolas Cages face....

ahhhh Anthony Head. . .there was just something about Giles, perhaps it's the older man, the british man and the teacher/mentor thing all being wrapped into one. He was supposed to have a much bigger part in Sweeney Todd, but they cut down the cast to a bear minimum Sad

I also quite like Josh Holloway as Sawyer, but I really need to catch up with Lost, since I only got to the end of the third series. It became really annoying when Sky outbid channel 4 for it. I can't afford Sky and I have to wait for christmasses to ask for the box sets hehe! He is definitely my favourite male on the programme though!
