back to back posting, sorry.
you know, my husband is insane.
I got him a netflix movie, some action-y thingy with Nicholas Cage, and I made the comment how creepy I think he is with his saggy face that looks like its gonna slide right off his skull. so hubby said, you think he's ugly, but you think Alan Rickman is good looking??
Like there's any comparison??? Alan's butt would make Nick Cage a good looking face (and he's more than 20 years older than him!!!)
INSANITY!!!! EWWW!!! _________________ ~~~Nora~~~

LMAO!! That one was pee-your-pantsworthy, Nora!!
OMG!!! Alan is WAYYY better looking than Nic Cage... he peaked between his "Guarding Tess" and "The Rock" era... it's definitely gone all downhill from there... _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure. ~ Alan Rickman |

Can I have both?
Personally, I think you can't really compare Alan with Nicolas Cage, they're totally different types. I probably wouldn't swoon about Nicolas Cage or write a fanfic about his characters, but I like him as an actor too, especially in Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. _________________

| Not a fan of Nicholas Cage really, I don't see how you can compare them at all! Mind you, I find his acting so annoying and his voice so irritating that any good thing about his looks is lost on me. I totally believe that someone's personality has a big effect on their level of attractiveness. Of course, we have to be careful here, because it's often personas we see with actors, rather than the real thing. |

My mum loves Nicholas Cage... I don't get the attraction. I like a few of his films, like 'Face Off' and 'City of Angels', but I wouldn't go out my way to watch him - especially after the last few films he has done (the 9/11 one and the remake of 'The Wicker Man' and 'National Treasure'... dear me). _________________ :.*My Flavour Of Choice? I had forgotten about The Wicker Man! Oh, my god, that was just the worst movie ever! Sometimes really bad movies can be kind of fun to watch, but that was just sad! |

The original Wicker Man was brilliant. Really creepy and quite hard to watch. I refused to see the remake - I thought that it was the most ridiculous thing to remake... so unnecessary. Generally remakes are a bad idea... _________________ :.*My Flavour Of Choice? Alan. Of The Rickman Variety*.: |

Very true, in most cases. Never been compelled to watch a Nicholas Cage film for a LONG time, so I haven't!
Couldn't tell you how good his acting is any more! _________________ Alan Rickman...*sigh*... enough said.

I have heard tha the original Wicker Man is a great movie, but unfortunatley I have just seen the remake... big mistake...
Yeah, remakes are usually really pointless, especially the ones that really are exactly the same movie with some new actors. I'm thinking about the new Psycho for one.
In the recently seen movies-thread I wrote about a film called Funny Games, a german movie (or was is Austria, I don't remember). Anyway, it was a great movie with great actors, but last year the remake came, I havn't seen it, but I hear that it is a copy of the first one, down to every detail. Except of course that now Naomi Watts and Tim Roth play the lead characters.
A lot of people really seem to have a problem watching movies where another language than english is spoken. I know people here who I don't think have seen a non-american movie in their lives! They don't even watch swedish movies, beacause "they are never any good"! When I ask how they can know that they just say "oh, everyone knows that!"
They really arn't the most interesting people...
Oh well, rant over now! |

Even people abroad don't watch non-English films? That's really sad. I think that is a bit narrow-minded really. Pan's Labyrinth was Spanish and was an excellent film. Also, if any of you are considering sampling Bollywood, I highly recommend Devdas (the 2002 version), it is quite an epic and you have to watch it in subtitles, but it's a fantastic film.
Re-makes generally a no. However, being the young thing that I am, I sometimes end up seeing a new version before I know there was an original. Like the BBC mini-series Jane Eyre. I've seen the 2006 version with Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson and it was excellent. Fantastic. So good, I watch it every few months. But many versions of Jane Eyre have been made, and I haven't seen any previous ones. I'm not sure if I want to when the version I have is so good. |

I loved Pan's Labyrinth so much! Wonderful movie.
There are of course lots of stories that deserves to be told over and over again, but I think it is important that the director has a new take on it, a new look at it, so it's not just a sad repetition. |
