I like elements of this film, but I don't think it is Alan's best. It goes on a bit long at some points for me. Of course I still own it...

Yes, it drags a little, but he looks so nice in it. Laughing

In general I really like Alan in period-drama types. He's just a very classy gent, so he is believable. But I prefer him in S&S, looks wise. Wouldn't say know though...!!

I think S&S is definitely the better one for me. I will watch pretty much anything with Alan in it, but I just think that the plot (being that it is an absolute classic) is far more engaging in S&S. It's such a beautiful film. Emma Thompson's screenplay is spot on. Mesmer is very intriguing, no doubt, but I felt like there wasn't enough actually going on. But hey, I'm not complaining.

Loved the way he looked too, only seen the film once though, so I need to watch it a couple times more to really see everything-then I'll pass comment!

Havn´t seen Mesmer, but I really want too, seems hard to get hold of in my part of the world.
There is a swedish actress in it, Amanda Ooms, not sure what part she plays.

I haven't been able to get ahold of it, either, Marie. I know it's unrentable. Not sure if it can be purchased, though. I'll have to check into that.

Cheack out Amazon they should have it sometimes even Amazon UK has in Region 1 form you just have to search ...hard...lol if they don't some sellers they deal with should have it....it will say underneath other sellers...but they should have it. Ive never had a problem buying from their outside sellers.

Yeah, I bought it off Amazon only a couple of weeks ago...just been on there again...it's still advertised on there. He looks divine in it....plays quite a misunderstood soul.

Mesmer has been on my Netflix list since I signed up months ago, but it has been listed as "long wait". Now it is available, and should be shipped within the next day or so!!

Well, I watched Mesmer...
it was OK, I don't think it was a movie I will watch again, and I probably won't buy it (sorry, Alan)
But, he was suuurre purty in it!! Laughing
I know that it was biographical, so you sorta have to stick with that, so what can you do?
AR's acting is always great, sometimes a script is just so-so.
