A woman (Carla Gugino) and her lover (Simon Baker-Denny), who has made a living by running sex scams at hotels, decide to enter the big time by kidnapping a computer company owner (Greg Wise) and demanding $4 million ransom. The two hire a tech wizard (Gil Bellows) and a muscle man (Til Scweiger), who amuses himself by playing Russian roulette. Things go awry during the kidnapping when a neighbor is killed, who turns out to be the wife of a powerful senator (Hal Holbrook). As things develop, it turns out that the murder may not have been as accidental as it originally appeared. Slowly things unveil to not to be everything that was originally thought.

Loved it! Cool

This is another film on my list "to buy". I love crime mysteries, so hopefully I'd enjoy this. Also, I love watching Alan and Emma act together, they have such a wonderful dynamic.

I enjoyed this film too, the villains are all so calm and calculating. it's scary! Alan and Emma do work well together, don't they? great partnership.
However it's not in my fave list, but Alan's in it, so I'll watch it again!

Til Schweiger is one of the most popular German actors. I have the film only in German dubbing. I am looking forward to buying the English version. Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman once again. But do not expect tooooo much. They would like to be Tarantino and it shows that it is not enough to be the two world's best actors, if your script and your director are rubbish...

And my hope for a proper Cop is not fulfilled yet.

Again the accents keep 'slipping' but a fairly good film to watch.

Alan and Emma are great together and are doing their very best, but in my oppinion this is not a very good movie.
The script is really bad, and some of the lines poor Emma and Alan have to say are just horrible.
But still, just because it´s Alan, it´s defenitely worth owning.

I saw it when it first came out, so I don't remember it that well, but I agree with you Marie. It wasn't a memorable film.

If anyone knows how to get a Region 1 copy, please let me know. It isn't even available on Netflix.
