That is very juvenile indeed. I think it highlights just how nice these forums are. We all believe in freedom of speech and the fact that not everyone else shares the same opinions and tastes. However, we have proper discussions about such things, accepting that people are different (it's how I believe the world in general should be).

We have a laugh, we all get along, and there is none of the immaturity that can come with other forums and often does and this means we are able to discuss a lot of things which aren't necessarily Alan- related and actually enjoy being able to communicate with people around the world when we've had a really long day and don't necessarily feel like talking vocally with friends.

I think we should be very proud of the Rickman-forums! Very Happy

This confirms what I have always thought about larger forums. I have never had an easy time on them. Often I would get bored of them simply because noone listens to you on there - everyone has their little groups. I can't imagine anyone coming on here and getting abuse from other members or being intimidated. To echo Skittle, we are very lucky to have such a wonderful friendly homely community. The web can be a hostile place sometimes.

Hear, hear!! don't need to add anything else, you've said it all.
I wouldn't post any of my pictures on another forum, because I'm sure nasty comments would be made. At least here, I know that if someone doesn't like it, they'll just stay silent!!! Laughing Laughing Much better for my ego!!
You're all such lovely people and I'm glad I found my way here!!!

BIG HUGS ALL ROUND

ok, it's 4am here, I've just been out celebrating graduation. My boyfriend has gone to wimbledon, so i was just out with friends. An awesome night out and I'm rather inebriated. . . .wow, a good word for this time of night, in my situation, I'm almost proud of myself. Anyway, I'm having tea and toast before I go to bed to help sober up and prevent a hangover. In the meantime, I will enjoy looking at lots of nice pictures of Alan!

(the comments about our forum- it does seem to be the larger ones that are the problem. I think you're all ace and I value your opinion even if it's different to mine. The world would be a very boring place if we all thought the same thing!) Laughing

I heart all of you guys! Velouria is so right about cliques on other forums too. You add something to the topic at hand and they completely ignore you and your comment and they do it consistently until you disappear. I also despise what I call 'Rima bashing'. It's not that I worry that Alan is going to read such stuff (at least I hope he never does); it's simply that it's immature and disrespectful (and I don't want to be connected to those kinds of things either Nora). I am also very impressed with the level of intelligence here which shows through in both content and written word. Sure we can all be silly and naughty at times but we need that sometimes too. It keeps us sane!

I think that Rima-bashing is awful. It is very clear that it comes from some kind of jealousy, which I can understand in a way. . .we'd all like to wake up to Alan in the mornings. However, he is a human being like the rest of us and deserves companionship. Rima must be a very special lady indeed to have been able to hang on to someone who gets such a great deal of female attention. I don't think it can be easy to be the partner of any actor/actress or indeed, anyone in the public eye, Rima probably has to put up with quite a lot and I'm sure that Alan can be annoying at times, just like the rest of us. . .even if he does it in a very nice voice! Laughing

looks like I have to re-review my attitude about SWARF

Why do people always have to spoil the fun in an experience like ours?

Yay, us! I'm just very happy and comfortable here, I don't mind seeing what other people are saying, but I like having my group of people that I'm comfortable with. I've never been too comfortable in a large group.

And, congrats to Skittle, for being able to type "inebriated" when she actually was! Hope your tea and toast worked. And, I'm sure Alan is like any other man, and can be unpleasant at times, and any man, no matter how sexy and gorgeous, after years of being with him, is still just a man. (remember the burping, farting, picking your nose thread a few months ago....not too mention just general grumpiness) Wink

I have noticed that, unlike most of the other forums, we're slightly the other way concerning Rima, almost protective. Which I'm sure Alan appreciates if he ever snoops around the boards. The Rickman Divas are definitely classy... sure, we can be a bit bawdy at times, but I never feel that we're insulting- to each other, Alan, Rima, or Alan's life.

That's why I chose to join this board and not one of the countless others...

I agree. And, we ARE talking about real people, who can and sometimes do read things written about them, hopefully they wouldn't be too upset at anything they find here. (And, we wouldn't be too embarassed...maybe... Embarassed )

Well, today I'm a little tired - I was at a gig last night for the band The Guillemots. It was a free one at KOKO in Camden and it was a lot of fun. Martha Wainwright collaborated with them for two songs, which was fantastic.

Today I have work for five hours and then I am driving to Wiltshire for the weekend. We are leaving at 7:30, so we should be there by 10. Fun times! Now I am trying to get everything ready/eat/get to work on time. But it should be worth it!

I have been painting at my parents new house for the last two days. They are paying me instead of hiring someone. It's good to be active physically and psychologically. I also drove to the next little town to check out their farmers market and see about joining. The lady in charge of it didn't seem too interested in another baker and photographer but I left my card anyway.

Velouria, what will you do in Wiltshire? Is it a tourist destination? Forgive my ignorance. Rolling Eyes
