I just read the news on Yahoo!. I was not a fan , but the news was still startling. Shocking. He was so young and quite successful for his age. Makes me worry about people dying young. I know they think drugs were involved, but it is still unnerving..

I thought it was pretty unnerving, too. And really, really sad. I think it's a shame when things like that happen. Very tragic. Fame must be hard to bear for some, and it seems that the young celebs of today have a harder time coping than those in the past... or maybe now it's just less hidden (consider Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, James Dean, et. al.) Guess I'm glad to be unfamous, less-than-perfect Steph!!

Yeah, I agree with you both....I think nowadays the paparazzi play a huge role in celeb deaths...never letting celebs live a somewhat normal life...it's sad.

yeah, I think the paparatzzi must play a part. I read the yahoo article, and it even mentioned papratzzi and gawkers around the site of his death. I personally think that some people take it too far and should mind their own business. Unless of course it has to do with Alan Very Happy just kidding, hahaha

Saw this on the early breakfast news this morning. Very sad, may he rest in peace.

This came on the news late last night. It was pretty surreal. I wasn't a fan of his, but it was still strange to think that he is dead. It will be very odd seeing the new Batman film with him in it, knowing that he is dead.

Very sad, indeed. I feel so sad for his daughter.
I was not a fan of his, but I think he was a very talented actor, wonderful in Brokeback mountain.

You see these glamorous pictures from premieres in Hollywood, with celebrities looking so happy and smiling at the cameras. But I guess it´s not that easy for them either.

It really is so sad and shocking. You see people (celebrities) that you think must have such perfect lives, but really they are just human, too. Still don't know if it was suicide or accidental, which it IS starting to look like. Which ever way, it's tragic.
I can't say he was one of my favorite actors, but I do think he was one of the more talented ones out there, more so than some of the ones that get alot of attention, sad to say.
My thoughts go out to his family, especially his little girl, how sad.

Batman: The Dark Knight will be out soon in the English speaking world. We Germans have to wait till the end of August. I think I will go and have a look. I think the last Batman I watched was Batman III. Well, I could rent out what was inbetween.

Don't forget to rent "Batman Begins" - Christian Bale is definitely my favourite Batman. Oh, and if you haven't seen it yet, rent "The Prestige" (German: "Prestige - Die Meister der Magie") with Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman while you're at it (but don't read the Wikipedia entry or any other plot summary!).

On 14th July 2008 The Dark Knight premiered in New York City. A big event and the trailers are promising.
Gary Oldman is campaigning for an Oscar for Heath Ledger.

Eustacia, you are right, Batman Begins was the best Batman I have seen so far.

I saw The Dark Knight at 12:01 last night.
Heath Ledger truly made the movie. I sat there in anticipation for the next time he would come on screen. He really did scare me in this role though.
He could switch from making the whole theater crack up laughing to havin us cringing in fear. Fantastic performance.
Dead or not dead, he should be getting an Oscar for his performance. Must see this movie.
