Yes, and I agree with you all the way, Meredith! We just saw it tonight, and while I'm not the biggest Batman fan in the world, I thought it was a good movie, and Heath Ledger was incredible. He did make the move, and I cannot imagine him NOT being nominated for an Oscar for this role, even if he had not so sadly died. Were people crying at one certain point in your theater? I did (but I tend to, but I could hear several people cry at the sad point all through our theater...)
He truly acted like a madman in this role, amazing.
(and I've thought our website has been acting up today and last night, too) |
Yeah, actually, Im pretty sure a few people did cry. And there was A LOT of clapping and cheering when the credits rolled. Great performance. _________________ "I'm a lot less serious than people think,

I think the Joker is a leading man.
But as the film is so full of great actors it will be difficult to say.
What would you say Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman are doing in this film? Support?
Nora, I would help to smash those ugly glasses, but I think he is supposed not to be siriusly hot in this film. He is kind of a father-figure not a daredevil. _________________ Alan Rickman('s) Acting touches nerves you have absolutely no control over. |

Yes, I supppose they are supporting roles, but not the main support. Maybe GO, the others are much more minor.
It was a larger, more important role for Gary this time, but really Heath Ledger just overshadowed everything. It was completely his movie. _________________ ~~~Nora~~~

Somewhere Gary said it was Heath Ledger's Blaze of Glory. He really wants an Oscar for Heath.
I just hope that there are enough categories for giving Alan a chance. What makes you think he would be considered for an Oscar with Bottle Shock? I thought Bottle Shock is an indie production. I thought the topic is not Oscar-material. Well still Alan would deserve one.
I still haven't seen The Dark Knight. But I am reading all I can. The British SciFiNow has a nice article about the Film. It also contains the last interview Heath gave. It is issue 17, in case someone is interested. _________________ Alan Rickman('s) Acting touches nerves you have absolutely no control over. |

No, I don't think Bottle Shock is Oscar worth (probably, as I haven't seen it of course...)
but what about HBP??? maybe this time?? Probably not, I think that maybe it will happen with DH, but you never know, I'm always hopeful for Alan. We all know what a wonderful actor he is. It would just be sad if he finally got a nomination, and it turned out to be against someone who has given such an incredibly stunning and almost (already) iconic performance. _________________ ~~~Nora~~~

If Alan is going to be considered for an Oscar for playing Snape he is going to be nominated in the Supporting category. Even though Snape is the title character of the Half Blood Prince, Snape is still a supporting part. There should be no problem. Heath Ledger cannot be considered support in The Dark Knight. If they are going to give Heath Ledger an Oscar, they will do it as best leading man. _________________ Alan Rickman('s) Acting touches nerves you have absolutely no control over. |
