I'm making this thread because I have a happy announcement and realized that there isn't a place for it!
I'm really psyched because yesterday I was offered (amd accepted) a new job. I'll be working as a writer for an engineering firm. I'll be the person that does correspondence, PR, brochures, website, etc. It's a little different than the type of writing I have been doing, but since my Bachelors is in Business Administration and I have writing experience, they apparently thought I was right for the job!
It will be quite a large increase in pay as well, which is what my family needs right about now. I love working as a freelancer, but let's face it, it doesn't always pay the bills!
I plan to keep writing for the magazine, just fewer articles (NOT TEN!!!) per month. I'm giving up the paper, but will still do PR for the municipality. Those are both things I can do pretty much from home.
So I'm excited (but scared). I haven't worked a JOB job since before my boys, so.... it's a little nerve-wracking!
Anyone else have any good news?? _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure. ~ Alan Rickman |

GRATS!!!!
New jobs are scarry but in a good way.
My good news --- THE VERTGO IS OVER and I can drive again. Afer three weeks of being dizy. Ick.
My husband though has been wonderful the whole time. Only once did he loose it and that was when he backed in to some one backing into him. He wouldn't have even been in the dreadful parking lot if not for me. I know he was thinking that at the time. But the Insurance company made it 100% on both drives so not bad marks on our insurance we just have to pay our our deductable. Though that is a pretty penny.
But I'm not dizzy any more. YAH!!!
And wonderful for your kids too Journalista. Enjoy every new discovery with them they grow so fast. I'm still enjoying discoveries with my 22 year old. Like when he discovers there is a reason we tell him to close his sun roof. He looked at me like I was crazy and said. "We live in Arizona it never rains this time of year." Well it rained last night. Yah I'm just a parent I don't know anything. I can't wait till the Brain Fairy returns his brain. Hehehe, Bill Cosby called that one. _________________ Benalinae |

Congrats on the new job and the pay increase!! yea for pay increases!! (I can't wait for mine!! It's still over 3 weeks before I even start, so 2 weeks after that before I get the moo-la)
and, Sam, good for your kids, I'm sure every little step is like a giant one!
I think having a celebration thread is a great idea.
Benalinae, I'm glad your vertigo is go-ing! I can't stand to be dizzy for five minutes, it must be terrible.

Thanks Kat! Have things shaped up for you on the work front? Having some time to yourself on occasion??
@Benalinae- Glad to hear that your vertigo is better. My bro had it earlier this year and it was really tough for him. His was being caused by a sinus infection... I told him he was dizzy to begin with so how could he tell...
@Sam- Awesome news about your girls! You keep plugging and don't give up. I'm sending you a PM that has an article I wrote for the mag I work for about a mom who has been really proactive regarding her son's autism. I think you'll find it interesting (not because I wrote it, but because of the subject!) _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure. ~ Alan Rickman |

Well I do guess that is good news I have. I'm now just client based at the shop, and mostly just bartending and Dj work which I love. So yeah, less work, little cut in pay but nothing too major. Best pay off I have time to relax instead of the crazy amount of work I"ve been doing.
Yay for all of us! _________________ "Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point." Metatron~Dogma |

Thanks Nora! I was thinking about you, actually, when I found out how much more I'd be making... I was thinking it must be a very good time for the redheads!
And I thought this thread would be great! Sometimes it's hard to find something to be happy about, but I thought, hey! There's gotta be a little something in everyone's day that makes them smile... like really good ice cream, or a flirty smile from the bank teller (a guy!), or losing a couple pounds!!! ANYTHING!! It's good to celebrate the small stuff! _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure. ~ Alan Rickman |

I always find little things in the day which make me happy. Like a nice warm day, or seeing my little puppy or kitten looking so cute or just that hot guy always in that nice suit who comes into the bar I work every night. (sure he's good looking, he's at the bar every night so I assume he's a drunk which isn't sexy haha). Or when my mother or grandmother just call me out of the blue to tell me how their day is going and whatnot.

Yeah well at the time I was working just because we were strapped for people at both jobs. THen when we got the staff, my boss still expected me to work them hours. I then got fed up with the work and no appreciation so I said, either you cut me down to part time or I'm out of here. I've been with them for 5 years and they don't want to let me go so they then cut me down. I was getting so run down, and with my jobs I can't be half asleep doing them.
So basically told my boss, my way or I'm hitting the highway. So he had no choice. _________________ "Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point." Metatron~Dogma |
