I cannot read on the bus, I get seasick... (it is supposed to be movingsickness, isn't ist?) But I can daydream on the bus and I cannot do that if I have to drive a car. I sold my car in 2004 for eco reasons, I admit. And it is possible to spend as much money on a bicycle as on a small car. I did not do that, for fear of having mine stolen. My bicycle is cranky and old but I get from here to there. But that only works because public transportation works rather well in my area. If I were only 50 kms more south I would not manage without a car. _________________ Alan Rickman('s) Acting touches nerves you have absolutely no control over. |

really?? good luck with that!
I really do believe German made cars are much better quality...but way more expensive, of course.
We have a Ford and now a Mazda, our second Japanese car. And you can get lots and lots of miles on one, and they're good on gas.
But I'd rather have German made.
And everyone and their brother has a BMW here, lots and lots of 325s, anyone who has any money to spare has one, and the next income level up buys Mercedes...I'm sure they're all in debt up to their eyeballs, too!
(yea, I didn't really think everyone had a Rolls or Bentley...too bad, tho! and you know, I've never seen a Bentley in person...there are NONE around here...an occasional Rolls, but it is rare)
We do not have the option of public transportation here, it just isn't available. the only bus system is by special arrangement, and mostly used for the elderly, etc. No trains...until you get to the St. Louis Metro East area, then there is the Metro Link, which is like the subway, but there is only one line...but they do have buses.
It's pretty much a rural area around here, the towns are spread out, and you may live 10 or 20 or more miles from where you work. (I live about 5)
Oh, yea, I get sick if I read in a vehicle, or sometimes just look down too long, like looking for stuff in my purse...and I get sick in the back seat, so I have to ride up front. (and have you noticed that it's worse on rainy/cloudy days than sunny?? I think it has to do with barometric pressure...just like headaches from storms) _________________ ~~~Nora~~~
