Ok, I have an account, but theres nothing good there, so I won't bother linking you up - it's all photography and nothing Alan related. But the main reason I joined was to keep tabs on one particular artist. Their username is snapesnogger. They do some really cute Snape stuff - some of which looks a little like Alan, but it's more for book fans in general. If you can have a look around and (if you have read Deathly Hallows) then search for one in particular (it's so wonderful), I think it's called 'Always'. I will have a look around another time for a direct link.
Does anyone else have any fave artists on this site, or artwork? _________________ :.*My Flavour Of Choice? Alan. Of The Rickman Variety*.: |

OK, now I have to tell you mi bad experience with DA...
I know Snapesnogger, she's just great. But she abandoned her account. Don't know exactly why, but it seems there were a lot of trolls ans spammers bothering her (telling her drawing was boring, bad or something worse than that), and she took off DA. And I don't blame her, because I won't upload a single thing to that site again.
A few months ago, my gallery was full of Alan rickman, HP, v¡deogames or movies related stuff, mostly wallpapers like the ones I showed you here in this forum. And then one day the admins tell me that I'm violating the copyright rules and all my gallery was gone. Ok, I can understand that they remove the "illegal" or "copyrighted" stuff if they say so in their rules, but what about my wallpapers made only with light effects and photoshop brushes? Now the PS tools are illegal, too? And what about the sigs, avatars and walls made with drawings by Snapesnogger and Makani, who gave me permission to use? So, I complained to the admins and basically they told me oh we're so sorry but all is gone and you need explicit permission to use the drawings, but not implicit permission (translating: Makani and Snapesnogger had to write to the admins and tell them personally they give permission). And I asked them why I see every day a lot of works like mine uploaded and they say oh, that, sorry, but the thing is, you've been catched while doing it, we're few admins and you had bad luck. And that was a few weeks after an admin saw two of my 300 and Die hard signatures and simply moved them to another category, informing me that they were in the wrong section and doing nothing at all about the supposed copyright infringement.
So, sorry to bore you with this story, but although I navigate through DA to see the fabulous work of people like Makani or Heise, or to collect resources for my own works, I will not upload again a single work to that site, although I see every day at least half a dozen new things made with photos from movies, TV series or musicians... _________________

Sorry you've had such a bad experience with them, Omega...It would put me off too, if I had experienced that.
Up til now though, I have enjoyed my experience on DA and have got to meet some wonderful artists and friends. I haven't had any problems with the admin so far and will continue to use the site.
Again, I'm sorry for you that you've had a bad time.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy searching through DeviantArt and meet wonderful artists. But the main reason I had for joining DA was that different people could see my works and make suggestions, critics and share their opinion about them. And I was learning a lot. But the administration on that site is awful, and I'm not the only one whose gallery has been erased randomly. That's what infuriates me, not the website per se.
I just love the stuff made by Snapesnogger, Makani, Heise or Usagitsu _________________

Too bad about your experience Omega. I find some other sites can be like that too. It can get confusing sometimes trying to figure out whats allowed and whats not as well. For example: You find a photo that looks like a paparazzi shot (a photo taken without the person's awareness or of a person doing 'normal' everyday stuff like shopping) so you don't pass it around and you don't talk about it because you don't want to be disrespectful and you know it isn't allowed on the particular site your on. You don't want to raise the ire of the admins. or mod.s and get your self kicked off and you start to worry that you'll be criticized for even viewing such (sometimes innocuous) photos. The next thing you know there is a photo on the site that looks suspiciously like a pap shot (long range, slightly fuzzy, subject not looking at camera or looking at camera like "yeah, it's me walking down the street, how ya doin'?") You're thinking WTF? I haven't been kicked off a site yet, I try to avoid sites with ambiguous rules or those who play favourites. I agree with rules but they have to be applied to everyone. I've also seen people get horribly, publicly 'flamed' on sites for making the most innocent mistakes and I thought it was completely uncalled for. We are extremely lucky here. We are free to speak our minds, we have quite a bit of fun and everyone is respectful. _________________

That's what I love about this site...I feel we are all very respectful of each other, and of Mr Rickman. Although we can be a little saucy at times, everything is meant with good intention and not to upset anyone.
I've only been a member here for a short while compared to some of you, but I look forward to seeing new comments that have been posted, because I just know that it's going to give me a warm feeling inside and make me smile.
When I saw Omega's comment in reply to mine, my heart just dropped because I thought I'd caused offence and that was the last thing I would have wanted. _________________ Alan Rickman...*sigh*... enough said.

No, no, absolutely no offense at all! Sorry if it looked like I was angry with you, I'm not! It's only that my bad experience with DA caused that when someone says anything about that site, I just have the need to tell them what happened.

That's the thing, I completely agree with you. And that's the problem they have at DevianArt: they don't apply the rules equally for everybody, just punish someone once in a while, when they remember that's the job of an admin...
I've seen people with xenophobe stuff in their gallery, people popping through someone's account only to harass or insult them, and art thiefs, and nobody has moved a single finger to ban them. Yes, the staff banned a lot of people like those, but not all, and there's still dozens of them. Because the staff members are really few and they can't cope with all the admin work. They don't have any coherence at all (as I said, one admin simply moved my signatures from one category to another, and then, a month after that, another one decided to erase all the gallery because it's illegal) and that's not good for a website. I'm admin in two websites, and the first thing I do before making some change or warning a member, is consult the other admins. I think that's the right way for doing things... _________________

Really, I can't believe what an awesome community of women we have here... I think every individual here has great qualities and everyone treats each other with great respect.
I have been on forums that are just AWFUL (a Battlestar Galactica site comes to mind... my "geek' is showing, LOL!) and people are rude and nasty to everyone. I got the total newbie snub treatment there! Not here! It was great- I don't think I ever even felt like a "newbie". I moderately enjoyed a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" forum, but there, there were definite cliques. Certain people, for whatever reason, got flamed or just completely snubbed.
Which just goes to show you, Rickman Girls are a cut above the rest. Artistic, bright, articulate- we have it all, LOL!! I just like how we all contribute in our own way, and everyone is valued for what they individually have to offer.
Sorry to rave, just think all of you are THE BEST!! _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure. ~ Alan Rickman |

Yes we are, aren't we?
This board is really such great stress relief for me, knowing I can come here, talk about Alan, my life, whatever...
and enjoy all the great comments from so many different people.
And, me being me, and having a hard time being serious, I love the level of goofiness here! Who wants to be all serious all the time (that's what we have jobs for ) (and kids!) _________________ ~~~Nora~~~

I really love the fact that you can come here and talk about anything, from good or bad things in your personal life, to the hottness of Alan in gold trouser! |

I completely agree with everyone...we respect each other because we have a common goal...." The Adoration of Alan Rickman"
Anyone who takes the time to join a forum to do so, must be a die-hard fan (and a "Die Hard" fan)!!
As Nora says...it's a great stress relief to come on here, support each other, have a laugh, and be generally lewd, after playing at grown-ups all day!!
And Marie.... | Marie wrote: | | I really love the fact that you can come here and talk about anything, from good or bad things in your personal life, to the hottness of Alan in gold trouser! |

Do you know what's the only other site in which the members are a lot like here? A spanish Frasier forum board in wich I participate every day. It's just like here, we respect each other and have a good time every day, talking about hundreds of things, from the Frasier show itself to Alan Rickman (yes, there're a bunch of Potteradicts and Rickmaniacs there) _________________
