I recently found two movies on Youtube that the BRILLIANT Alan Rickman has starred in; Snow Cake and Closet Land. I'll stick to the latter in this thread, seeing as there is already a thread about Snow Cake. [which was fantastic btw]

I hadn't known anything prior to watching this in its 10 minute segments, so it was not anything I was expecting. I thought all in all, it was a pretty good movie, although the end was cut off a bit, so I'm wondering if I missed any key points...

Btw, did anyone else get slightly freaked out by his altered voices?? 0.o

I have just seen Closet Land. This is a most disturbing film. But of course the topic Torture is most disturbing anyway. I did not know what to expect. The performance is daring. Only two people playing for 93 minutes. Nothing that I will be watching again too soon. And I have to admit, that was not what I wanted when I said I want him to play a proper cop.

To sooth my nerves I have put in scene 7 of TMD

I just watched this on youtube.

I'm speechless lol.

I really liked it in a odd way. Maybe because it was Alan for 90 minutes lol. He freaked me out, majorly. Such a creepy character, and the voice thing was so strange, it gave me shivers at points. But, at the end of the day it was Alan and he was hot as ever, and part of me could not help but imagine him strapping me to a chair and blindfolding me and... well, I'm sure you get the idea.

Sorry, I think I'm sick or something lol! Maybe I'm secretly submissive or something like that. I've never really been one for S&M, but I should have guessed Alan would be the one to change my mind... again, very sorry, I'm clearly deranged. I think I need a time out lol...

...Or maybe just a cold shower Rolling Eyes Wink

Can you actually watch the entire movie of Closet Land on youtube?
I've seen the videos that people have put to music (which are rather sexy in an S & M sort of way, which I didn't think I was into, either, DeAna! But, with Alan, who knows!)

I looked up CL on Amazon yesterday, and they only have it for UK dvd players. we tried switching ours over, but I don't know if it worked. It didn't show anything on the screen...should it have?

Dear Nora,
DeAna left a description of how to shift to Region 2 somewhere around here. Via Memberlist, all postings of DeAna, you will find it. I think it sounded foolproof.
Take good care

If you want to watch it on youtube go to this link: http://www.youtube.com/user/raremovies

That is the user's page that uploaded the film. It is there on their page in 9 parts. Start with 1/9 and work your way up.

I hope that is helpful to you!!

Wow.......I've just watched this on Youtube, following the previous link.
This has got to be one of the most disturbing films I've seen for some time.
However, the acting from both of them was superb....Alan at his best!!

I'm actually quite speechless....................

Well, I just watched it (I should be sleeping, I worked last night...trust me, I didn't drift off during this movie!)

I have to agree, disturbing...
a little sexy on Alan's part at times, but too weird to be too sexy, not a man you want to try to redeem, that's for sure!
I don't think I'll watch it again.
That would take a person with very little humanity to treat another human that way (and unfortunately there are plenty of people like that in the world)
Nora
(excuse my spelling--I'm so tired I really can't think straight!!)

~Truly disturbing, yes....but he is playing a character after all.
Surely the fact that he can provoke such reactions in us all, is a resounding testament to this man's acting capabilities....he is outstanding as an actor, and totally believable as this character! I even had to take a couple of hours out after watching the film before I could come back and comment... Superb! Bravo!!!

I'm glad people found it to be well done. I think I have been slightly desensitized to films like this - so far as being able to watch things over again. After seeing 'Irreversible' nothing else seems that bad. It's disturbing yes, but definitely worth seeing. I had to watch it a second time to go over the parts that I hadn't taken in first time round.

Madeleine Stowe and Alan do terrific work.

And it is a film to raise awareness for human rights issues. What else could it be but disturbing.

It is one of the better works of Alan's. It must have been hard to play these transgressions. I am rather proud of him. He took big risks with this part.
