| I wasn't implying that by being a religiously affiliated organization that they don't do good things, but I don't want anyone to feel as though they can't contribute because they disagree with the politics/ideology of the charity. |

I think the Vaccine Fund sounds good. I think the names of the various individuals and organizations afflilated with this group more than shows its legitimacy. It has my vote. _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure. ~ Alan Rickman |

Alright, well, I went ahead and set up the donation page. Remember, if you don't have anything to give right now the page will be up for six months! That's well into April!
Here's the link for the page: http://www.firstgiving.com/rickman07
Feel free to post that link anywhere and everywhere you can think of! |

I understand that, I didn't want anyone to think that I was promoting a religious organization, because I really didn't realize that it was. (which I didn't care one way or the other, but I know that some people do)
I really do think the Vaccine Fund is great, and as a nurse, it's right up my alley, so to speak!
So, I'm right behind you! (without a needle, tho!)

I just wanted to give you guys a quick update on the donation. At the moment we're at $300, that means only $200 more to go! There are over 200 members on this board, so just think if everyone could give just $1 or $2, we'd be set! Please visit the page if you have a chance, it's open until mid April, so you've got time if you don't have the extra cash at the moment. _________________

As the last "birthday donation" closed with only 75 % achievement, I think we should start thinking about what cause we want to give for for Alan's 63rd birthday.
The last donation must have been put together by rather big donations of few people. I think we should make sure that everybody understands that contributing a small amout every month or only once is as worthy as big gifts. Economy is difficult right now. Even though big companies make lots of money these days, the average working person is not in such a comfortable situation.
I am not sure whether it is possible to have a longer period of collecting at first giving. Or whether there are other ways for getting better results.
I would like to hear some ideas what we could do. And in a manner that our Madam does not need to put in more work than she does anyway.
One of the problems might be that not everybody here is in possession of a credit card. If it is any help, I would be willing to let you send the money to me and I will forward it via my credit card. This of course would take some trust in me. Maybe we find other Rickman Girls and Divas who can help that way as well.
If the possibilities of first giving are used up for us, we could try to find a similar website, maybe for European Charities for the next round. _________________ Alan Rickman('s) Acting touches nerves you have absolutely no control over. |

aren't there pre-paid debit cards that you can purchase to use for the internet and things like that? (not that I wouldn't trust you, Magenta! but that may be an easy solution) _________________ ~~~Nora~~~

We use a pre paid credit card for everything on the internet, and only put enough money on it to cover the price and the cost of the transaction....no risk of abuse, or losing money...I'd recommend it!! _________________ Alan Rickman...*sigh*... enough said.

That is such a good idea and one that I never thought of... I had my identity stolen once, but it was promptly returned when the thieves realized how badly my life sucks... Just kidding. I did really have my identity stolen, but it was actually by someone who hacked into the Wal-Mart database and stole several thousand debit card numbers. I got the idea that SOMETHING might be up when I had $600 worth of charges to a Japanese online porn site.... And then, there were charges to a sports shop in California, subscriptions to skater and surfer magazines, etc... I guess they traced the theft to a teenage guy in San Diego, CA, and luckily my credit wasn't too badly affected. I never had to dress up like a pirate and serve chowder and iced tea, LOL!! _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure. ~ Alan Rickman |

Yeah....I'd definitely recommend it....people are very clever and can hack into anything....the joy of this card is , the transaction just won't go through if there are no funds in there!! _________________ Alan Rickman...*sigh*... enough said.

Actually I have not seen anything like prepaid credit cards here. I admit that this is a very good idea. It would be a good way to make sure you do not spend more than you planned. I have not asked my creditcard companies for the prepaid versions yet. But I think I will try to find something out. _________________ Alan Rickman('s) Acting touches nerves you have absolutely no control over. |
