I wish my blockbuster carried TMD. ugh! Well luckily for me, my uni's library carries An Awfully Big Adventure on VHS! I rented it during last semester and LOVED IT. Such a strange film, but Alan was a brilliant actor!
Did you know the woman that played the girl was 20..but lied about her age to get the part? When she initially auditioned i think they thought she was too old..so she changed her hair, name, said she was sixteen, and got the part! Alan was said to be upset finding out she was actually 20, because he took special care to make sure she was as comfortable as possible filming the intimate scenes. (Got my info from imdb.com among a few other websites)

Awww Alan, what a gentleman, being concerned for this "young" actress.

Well!! I've finally done it!! I received An Awfully Big Adventure through the post today, and now my AR film collection is COMPLETE!!!!

I just watched it again...it's so sad, on many levels, not just for Alan but for a lot of the other characters too....they all have an element of sadness in their lives!

Thats great, Jackie! My collection is far from complete.... And I have only watched An Awfully Big Adventure on youtube.... Still, it's better than not seeing it at all!
It is very good, I like the tone of it, sad and sort of melancholy.

My collection is far from complete. I really want to see Close My Eyes, but it keeps escaping me. One day I will own it.

Crying or Very sad

An Awfully Big Adventure is definitely worth watching, even if it is on youtube (that's how I watched it as well, Marie). Although it's not my fave Alan film. Hmm... I'm craving Sense & Sensibility.
