you know, I have to agree,
Yes I did go look at the pics, because it was Alan, but on the other hand, if I were Alan (or any other celeb) I would absolutely be livid at people taking pics of my family! and especially if you are just out, trying to have a nice family day, sightseeing or what ever...
so, yes, by looking I'm guilty, too!
So, here's my question, if you saw Alan out in public like that, would you approach him, to ask for an autograph or just say "Hi" or would you admire from afar, or snap a discreet pic, like the person on that board did? (but not post it for the world to see)
I wouldn't approach him, I don't think I could do that do someone, I'd be too embarrassed, and I wouldn't want to invade their privacy (although I would want to make eye contact!--think he'd notice the goofy redhead jumping up and down sqeeling?? )
I'd only take a pic if there were other things to take pics of and it wouldn't be obvious...and from far away...

When I read the 'rules' I felt a little guilty about having viewed the pictures but at the time I wasn't aware of the rules having never been to the sight and was so lost in my own personal 'squee fest' that I didn't stop to think about AR himself. My bad I guess. As for what I would do if I saw him out and about thats hard to answer. If I saw him in London I would probably do nothing but if I saw him in Canada I would probably say 'Hi'. You see, Canadians are generally a truly warm, kind and gracious bunch of people and when you come here to visit you become part of the family so to speak. We mean no disrespect what so ever by approaching you. We're just friendly and we really just want to say "How's it goin' (eh)? What brings you to Canada? Can I buy you a drink?" I'm sorry if I'm generalizing about Canadians but where I come from at least it's very friendly. _________________

If I saw Alan out with his family, I'd probably be happy about the view but would not approach him. If it were a publicity thing, then most definitely...
But I have a knack for "spotting" Jerry celebrities only. I saw Jerry Seinfeld out and about once, and the late, great Jerry Orbach was filming an episode of Law and Order at a local college and I saw him about town. So unless Alan changes his name to Jerry, I'm afraid spotting him won't be happening any time soon... _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. I wouldn't approach someone in public, unless it was a public event. I've seen celebrities in public and have always respected their personal space.
If it is public event, then I think it is okay to take a photo. If someone else had recognized him, then I might have asked permission to take a photo of him alone.
I didn't think before I went to see the photos, then I realised they were like 'stalking'. I felt bad that I posted the info here for the site after seeing them.
When I went back to the site and found the post pulled, I was somewhat relieved.
Sorry again. |

Yea, I felt bad afterwards too, just for looking, it is a little like stalking.
I would hate to not be able to go places with my family without people (like me!) staring at us, trying to take our picture, or talking to us.
I think approaching someone at a publicity event is an altogether different thing, it's expected then, and it's ok, but just out on their own, no.
Oh, well, I hope AR and fam enjoyed their trip, I wonder if it was a birthday sort of thing for Alan...I could deal with a birthday trip to Paris!!
My good friend Marina just told me the other day that she found out that her husband has been saving up to take her to Italy for their 25th anniversary in 2 years! I'm so jealous! (especially since we couldn't do anything but go out to dinner for our 25th! ) oh well, who says it has to be a "big" anniversary? I'll take a trip whenever I can get it! _________________ ~~~Nora~~~

When I was 14 I saw my Idol, Steve Priest! I waved a hello at him and he waved back and blew me a kiss. I nearly died of pure bliss!!

I am way too un-cool to approach Alan if I ever saw him in real life... I would never ask for an autograph, I´m too shy...
And, as said before, I really think that celebrities privacy should be respected, I know I would be bothered if I was famous. (Alright, I would probably love it at first...)
But I would love it if Alan actually noticed me, so I would try and get close and walk by him and hope that he would think "Hey, who is that lovely girl, she seems interesting..." And than he could come up to me!
Great plan! |

Me bad too, first i was all happy to see the pics but when i saw the one with his family i felt really bad, so its kind of a relief to know they re were taken out of the net.
I m too shy and would never aproach him, no way.
But i do understand why she posted them, she was eager to share bless her. _________________ "Fools who wear their hearts proudly on their sleeves, who cannot control their emotions, who wallow in sad memories and allow themselves to be provoked so easily-weak people,in other words-they stand no chance against his powers!"

Dear madam, if this post it too sensitive please remove it.
It is not my intention to ruffle anyone’s feathers. I want to address something that's been bothering me for two days now. First of all, I don't believe any one on this site meant to do anything disrespectful by viewing that first photo and my dear melm, you did nothing wrong by alerting us to it. We all simply heard about a fan encounter and believed that one lucky person had met him and got a photo. Call me naive or foolish but I really didn't think about the circumstances that may have surrounded the situation at the time. We did not know about the particulars until we viewed the post. Even the mod. on the site it was posted said that they did not believe that the individual posting meant any harm. So let’s not beat our selves up about it. Maybe some people out there think he's a celebrity and therefore fair game but I truly believe that the post was made by a genuine fan who meant no harm and I would speculate that she's feeling pretty darn bad now. I don't know this person, as I said I'm just speculating. I'd like to believe she simply got 'squeeed' temporarily and didn't really think about what she was doing or the consequences. Follow him around and continue to take pictures when he is obviously on a family outing? No, it isn't right in my opinion but let me clarify and stand by my last post when I said I would probably say 'HI' if he were in Canada. Would I bother him with his family? No. I didn't address that in my post because I did not realize the extent of the issue at the time (that he was there with family and that pictures had been taken of them). I do not support the taking of pictures of children related to celebrities who are on a family outing. I would never do that and I'm quite certain that none of us here on this site would either. Secondly, I do not believe that we are a bunch of nutters or stalkers. We call our selves the Rickman Girls and we have a roaring good time here. Other sites have names for them selves as well. I think it’s all in good fun. We have lives of our own, hopes, dreams, ambitions and goals that have nothing to do with Alan Rickman. We are simply a group of people who all share a common thread that have become friends and confidantes and are there for each other when we need an ear to bend, a shoulder to cry on, or a joy to share. Let’s not lose that and lets not feel bad or guilty about this any more. _________________
