sorry for the over-regular posting. I've just watched the videos you posted Semp. It is fantastic seeing him be so natural, and he seems to have such a good sense of humour (not that I'm surprised!), he also looks fantastic (not surprised about that either).

He genuinely looked like he was enjoying himself, and it sounds like the audience enjoyed it too, from all the laughter. Was the audience mostly female?

The first three rows were most certainly @90% female. Laughing He really scoped out his audience. He made eye contact with a number of people in the first three rows as far as I could tell. I don't know if he was looking out for potential stalkers or 'pretty women'. Laughing

It must be on his mind that there could be potential stalkers out there!!!

If I do meet him, I hope he won't be able to see the madness glinting in my eyes!! Laughing Laughing

Too funny, Jackie... I'm kind of glad I wasn't able to go, actually, speaking of madness... I've been a little out of it lately, and he'd have seen madness glinting in my eyes beyond a shadow of a doubt!! Shocked

Just my annual bout with OCD and insomnia, LOL!!

Yeah insomina is terrible journalista sorry to hear. I run though bouts of it myself. Not sure if its the same for everyone but mine feels like I have a mouse running on a wheel just spinnning non stop. Sometimes Id wake in the middle of the night thinking of things I have to do and then just getting up and doing them cause if I didnt I never get back to sleep. One time I acutally got up to clip a couple of cupons so I wouldnt forget to take them to the store at 4 in the moring Exclamation Shocked . There are some people that have whats called on set insominia which is taking more than and hour or two to get to sleep. Then theres off set insomina that causes people to wake an our or two earlier than they have too and keep them up throughout it. It's terrible. I did have a little help when I went through acupuncture for it . My firends could actually tell the diffrence in me after sessions and through out the weeks. Maybe that could help you to. Though not a cure. If your not needle squemish...it doesnt hurt at all.

Sorry to hear about those issues Journalista. Annually eh? I wonder if something traumatic happened at this time of year when you were younger, or do you mean once a year rather than the same season?

I stopped being a good sleeper when I was 15. I have periods where it's worse and periods where it's not so bad. It often can take me hours to get to sleep. I think the most frustrating thing is, I'm always tired when I go to bed, but my mind isn't. It's not just worrying about things, I just think about all kinds of stuff or can't get comfortable. Very occasionally it'll be so annoying that I just get up and watch a film until my brain falls asleep too. Laughing

It sometimes can get annoying when it's really bad, but generally it's manageable. Friends have suggested sleeping pills, but that is a very dangerous road to go down. They can be addictive and it is better to get to the root of the problem. Different things are meant to work for different people, so just try the whole range (except sleeping pills!). Chamomile tea is supposed to be good, classical music, making sure you have 'switch off time' before you go to bed, etc. And don't drink caffeine late. I believe 4pm is the cut off, but I could be wrong so I'd check that out if you're a caffeine addict. Hopefully this period of trouble will be over for you soon Very Happy

Well, I tend to over-focus on things occasionally and I avoid the basics like eating or sleeping while I'm in that overfocused mode. I'm working on a novel right now, so that's part of it. It started, really, during my first pregnancy. I couldn't sleep AT ALL because of where the baby was resting (he was a back baby), so I started making painted & decoupaged boxes... and I got a little carried away!

Plus if I'm stressed, which I have been a lot lately, forget it!! Sleep is a lost cause!!

We just discussed my daughter's sleep problems at her doctors visit today. She said that it's not uncommon, alot of teenagers have trouble sleeping, partly because of caffeine use.
She told her NO caffeine (not even chocolate milk after 4 PM at the latest), and to try Melatonin and/or Valerian to help.
also, staying up on the computer is bad Exclamation
but it's not just her staying up, and then sleeping late, during school, when she gets up at 6:30, she will still stay up until 11:30, and have trouble going to sleep.
I on the other hand, have trouble staying awake! no matter how much caffeine I get.

I usually try to go the natural route (ie. Valerian Root)... but I do want to tell you what happened to me once... I took a valerian root/kava kava combo that I bought at the local health food store and it made me HALLUCINATE!!! I'm not sure what was up with that!! So watch out for it... I talked to the Health Food Store Woman about it and she said it's a rather rare side effect that very few people ever experience!! I guess I'm just weird that way!

Dear Nora,
I think it has to be taken into consideration that the inner clock of teenagers is rather off. Even if you manage to get her into bed in a good time (good for our age) she will be tired in the morning. School really should start at about ten for them. Physically they have no chance to be alert earlier.
When I took my exams for my degree I had big problems to sleep through. I was adviced by doctors not to be too nervous about not sleeping. If I wake up at three and cannot get back to sleep I should get up and read or iron or whatever. Nothing to exciting, but do something else and not worry about not sleeping and turning from one side to another. If you manage to be relaxed about it and your daughter doesn't feel she needs help, I think she should not be forced into a sleeping pattern. She can survive on a bit less sleep than you would feel comfortable with. This will be alright when she turns 21 or maybe even earlier.
My niece is an night owl. During the holidays she stayed up all night, writes, draws, reads, chats online with other owls her age. Maybe it is also a way of creating her own space, being different from mum...

Unless you found a physical reason for not sleeping, I am sure you both would be better off if you tried not to make too much of it.

Ups, seems as if I am a lucky cow. I can sleep when my head hits the pillow. Reading in bed, one of my favourite pasttimes, has become quite difficult recently.

I usually have a tough time getting to sleep quickly, unless I have been drinking (that knocks me out). I don't drink coffee so I know it's not that. I've always been a night time person. Two years ago, however, I was havung such a hard time sleeping that I wasn't nodding off until 6am for a good month or so. And then I was getting up at 10. It took a lot to break that habit. Nowadays I tend to hit the hay at around 1am, then get up at 8/9. I do remember in my teens that I wouldn't sleep until 3am, because I would toss and turn. I'm not so bad now that Nick and I live together - I think he puts me at ease - but it still takes me a while on a normal day. I think I'm going to start doing more exercise - I've heard that helps!

I don't care what she does during summer vacations, but I do worry about her getting enough sleep during the school year, because she has told me about falling asleep in class before.
and I don't want her grades to suffer.
and, as her Dr. pointed out, when she starts driving (which is still almost a year away) it could be a problem.
and Cailee herself worries, she doesn't like to lay there and not sleep. but I would never give her a narcotic. natural remedies only, and she does get way too much caffeine.

Sorry, but I could fall asleep standing up!!
I have never had trouble falling asleep or getting up.

I do agree with the comment that teenage girls' body clock is different to ours. My daughter can stay up all night writing or drawing...but then sleep all day, or she gets bouts of insomnia too, where she won't sleep at all for 3 nights....then you can't wake her up!!!

As Cailee feels uncomfortable herself, I keep my fingers crossed that some of the restrictions help her.
Falling asleep in class is difficult.
I really hope you can find a way.

I love to sleep that I would I be devestated if I could not.
