RP or received pronunciation is accentless English. Basically the BBC accent, RP is how newsreaders speak. . .the national ones anyway, not local news obviously

ummm...you all have accents to us!!!
(absolutely beautiful ones, tho, even the ones that you all may not consider quite so desirable, we Americans love them!)

I got the info that Tom Burke is Alan's godson from Imdb. So I knew before. When I got that google-Alan-alert I thought I would share it with you. I hope someone is going to watch the play and tell us a lot about it.

I have tried to read the play, but I really did not manage to read this. That doesn't happen often to me. I can handle difficult stuff. But that, sorry Marie, I don't get it.

hehe Nora, I'm often told that people find in difficult to figure out which part of the uk I come from because I think I have a mixture of accents, I'd say maybe I don't have an accent, but I've had people thinking I'm american before, so that really can't be the case! (although I think those people must be crazy, I don't sound american at all!) Laughing

Haven't we discussed this before? or is it a case of deja vu?

Oh, thats okay! I am actually not familiar with the play, but there was a version of it shown on tv here not too long ago. I will try and see if i can get my hands on it, and approach it the easy way - watching instead of reading!
Some of Strindbergs stuff can be really difficult. I watched his "Ett Drömspel" (no idea how to translate that) on stage some years ago. Honest to God, I didn't understand anything! It had gotten great reviews, but I don't think the critics got it either... Confused

You are one lucky girl, Jackie!
I was hoping I would be able to make a little trip to London to see it, but I don't think it's gonna work out! Why, oh why am I not rich???
Does anyone happen to know a single millionaire looking to settle down? Very Happy

yea, we have had this discussion before! but, to me, most accents, and especially English or Irish, are just fascinating. (although, I guess I'm so used to my boss, who's from Ireland, that I don't notice her's anymore. I made the comment to my family one day that Cathy has lost her accent, and my family all started laughing at me and said, "no she hasn't!) Very Happy
