Yeah just lil old me!! But it's okay!
Anyway, I have an Uncle who actually lives in Covent Garden so I'm currently begging him to let me come and stay for a few days...and then there's the small matter of getting tickets...and if Alan'll actually be there!! Further "research" required... |

I'm sorry, Sparrington! put in down to senility!
and if I had an uncle who lived in Covent Garden, I'd be begging, too!
I'm sure Alan will be there for a few performances.
And, Semp, isn't press night, the night they open it for the press to cover for reveiws and such? _________________ ~~~Nora~~~

Wow I really want to go to London. How will I manage that?
Is anybody there who is going to attend ?
(this sounds as if I have never travelled before. That is not true, I have been in London quite often in the 80s. I was only wondering how I could get that sorted out. I have been waiting for hints about theater.)

I fully intend to go if I could meet up with someone...no one in my family would want to go......and I'd be too scared to go it alone.....if anyone else makes it definite, you can count me in!!! _________________ Alan Rickman...*sigh*... enough said.

| I would really like to come too. It doesn't have to cost too much to fly to London from here, and it would be so much fun actually meeting some of you guys! |

You see, I could NOT have a big party on my birthday in September and celebrate in London with nights at the theatre...
I really consider it. I have to check whether I will be granted leave from work. If so... _________________ Alan Rickman('s) Acting touches nerves you have absolutely no control over. |

That's how I ended up going to New York and meeting Michael Crawford! When he was there in Dance of the Vampires, I became bound and determined that I was going, no matter what, even tho we don't have much money. I worked in the Dr's office then, and he and his wife are fans, so she and I started talking about it, then he jumped on the bandwagon, and then his parents got in on it. But, my husband would have had a fit if I took off to NY by myself...
But, it was worth the expense!
There's no way I can get to London, tho. _________________ ~~~Nora~~~

well, covent garden has it's own tube station which helps. . .but I would probably have to get the train, which costs quite a bit of money. . .
I think the key point here is that Alan is DIRECTING the play. Due to his very busy schedule, that would surely mean he would attend hardly any of the actual performances but just get really involved in rehearsals? There would surely be no way of knowing which night he would turn up and even then how could you guarantee seeing him.
I hate to put a downer on it folks, but if people are actually thinking of flying over, and going to a fair amount of expense, such things need to be thought about! |

He will definitely be there opening nignt to see the response. I used to go to a lot of plays in London and always saw quite a few of the main people on those nights, hanging around. |

No worries skittle, when I set out on an adventure no one can get me down! I absolutely get the key point and I did not think he would be there every single moment, I just figured that if I was going to go all the way to Paris the week before any way, it would be crazy for me not to go to London the week after before flying home. And...If I'm going to London I'll definitely want to take in a show of some kind and... though I realize I may not get to see Alan anywhere near the theatre it would be great to know that I saw something that he directed. And, hey, I get a vacation (I need it ) ...and visit friends...and maybe meet some Diva's...and, who knows, maybe meet some one famous after all. Whatever happens, I'll have a blast. _________________

It is too bad that he is "just" directing it instead of being on stage himself, and there is probably no hope of seeing him there in person.
Still, I think it would be really fun to see it, especially if some Divas could meet up! That would be s much fun!
And there is tha fact that it is a play by Strindberg, who is like a national treasure here in Sweden. I really like a lot of his plays and have been in a couple too.
But it all comes down to money, as usual, but if I find a cheap flight and somewhere to stay, it might actually work.
(What am I saying, we are of course staying in the tent-city, so that is already taken care of!) |

I'm sure that as the director he will at least be there for opening night, so even if you can't get tickets for that night (which I'm sure would be impossible), you could maybe hang around the stage door or something....
and maybe he would be there for the press night, too. _________________ ~~~Nora~~~

hehe, I'm glad there are lots of positive-thinkers here! Well I'm definitely going to think about it, but as I'm not sure if I'll still be in Liverpool in september, it may be a fairly last minute thing if I do come! |

And of course it is his work. I would like to see the play anyway. I got the text from the GutenbergProject.net and I am reading.
Alan makes me read all sorts of stuff that I would not have taken into consideration without hints from him. _________________ Alan Rickman('s) Acting touches nerves you have absolutely no control over. |
