I just wanted to put my 2 cents in on this. I think that Snape suffers from a kind of arrested development, at least mentally and emotionally. Yes, he's very intelligent, but he has a habit of reacting to situations out his depth with very immature emotional responses. I would imagine this has a lot to do with his childhood/young adult experiences. Abuse and neglect at that age can lead to stunted emotional growth, leaving Snape a full grown man with the emotional age of a teenager.
I actually wrote a whole article about this on my Snape site, but I was arguing that Snape within the context of canon could be involuntarily celibate. This, of course, was before DH came out, but I think that book only backed up my theory, if for different reasons. |

But it sounds very interesting and I´m deffinetly gonna look into it! It´s a cold and windy and day here in Sweden so it sounds like a good thing to do... |
It's kinda a scary thing going into a fan fiction for the first time... cause some writers like to write their own 'events'... such as how the Golden Trio "really" met and whatnot and you're sitting there going "But, wait... JKR said that that was never gonna happen!" .. but then you kinda get use to it... then the fun part comes... trying to figure out what is cannon (what's been written or said as fact by JKR) and what isn't because you've read so many stories and get things mixed up LOL
For a first timer, I'd start with something small, like maybe a 100 word drabble and then work your way up. there are some VERY good drabbles... but the ones that I like are really sad LOL
Here's a couple of ones that I rather enjoyed.
A Child's Play
A Leap Back in to Faith
Escape This one is VERY sad but it's one of my favorites |
Thanks! I am gonna look into it soon, unfortunatley I´m not at home this weekend. It sound like it´s gonna be bad weather where I live, so it would have been perfect staying inside and getting to know some fan-fiction. Has to wait til monday, unfortunatley. |

Not sure if this author's stories have been mentioned here or not, but I have found her stuff on FanFiction.Net, her name is DragonFire10 (I'm assuming she is female!! maybe not, but I'm fairly certain)
Her Dark Angel story (the 1st of a series apparently was pretty good)
you might want to check it out.

(it is Hermione/Snape, so be warned) and long!
yes, this is what I'm wasting my day doing, OK?? (in my defense, I AM doing laundry! ) |

I ALWAYS love Lucius!! (unless they portray him as total evil...) I just finished another one of her fics called Evanescent Memory which is a Lucius/Hermione story, it was good, too. Not quite as long, she even threw in a little Severus for us!
It's published here, which is another site that has her Hermione stories:

Thanks, CatFish, for this link. The story really is wonderful. Now I'm translating it into Finnish in my spare time, because it's not translated at all yet . |

I read one on fanfiction.com called
Hinge of Fate.
It was suprisingly good. I recommend that anyone who is a fan of the HG/SS pair go read it. Oh and it is NC-17 in some chapters.

I read the Fire and the Rose. Do you have any idea where I could find the sequel?

It's really weird, some years ago I didn't bother for H/S fics. I didn't like the idea of a grown man falling for a teenager, too much "Lolita" and I always thought "what a pervert!"
But then I read a fanfic, just out of pure curiosity, in wich the characters were just like in the books, and the story was really great. Very, very long, but the only thing I didn' like was when hot sex was involved. The rest of the story is wonderful and sad at times, and that's the only H/S fic I like. Right now, I don't mind that type of fanfiction, usually don't read it, but I accept that some stories could be good.
Don't remember the author, sorry, but the name was Before dawn. It's in fanfiction.net, if you want to search for it. _________________
