There are a couple of stories on Ashwinder I've been keeping up with lately. One's called Canvas and Paint, another is Inevitable and the last in In Your Dreams. I think the last two are variations on the WIKTT Marriage Law Challenge (I seem to remember that challenge being issued years ago and people are still posting responses!).
Oh! And there's a newish one on FF.net that's being updated consistently with 2 chapters a day. I don't know how she does it. It's called The Apprentice and the Necromancer (here's the link: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3733492/1/The_Apprentice_and_the_Necromancer). Really great story, it's clear she's done a lot of research for it. Yet another Marriage Law fic - I love em! |

I just finished with Canvas and Paint last night! The final chapter with the "ahem" scene in the Headmaster's office was really funny.
| Quote: | | I never cared for stores that hooked Hermione Granger and Severus Snape together. It just doesn't seem right to me. After all he's suppose to be in his 30s and she's only in her teens. |
The stories I read have Hermione usually in her 20's. I think for me though, when I was 20/21 years old, I was dating a guy that was 42. He was really abusive towards the end and ended up being very stalkerish. He did a lot of horrible things to me and my psychie that reading stories with Hermione in her 20's a Severus whatever age he is kinda helps with what a bastard my ex was/is.
I don't condone relationships (whether fiction or real life) where one partner is under legal age and once I read a story and find out that Hermione is under 17 (since it's the legal age in the wizarding world) then I stop reading it... not matter how good the story was up to that point.
The one thing that kinda bugs me about some stories is when the authors make Severus into something of a Mr. Darcy type character. I don't see Snape as being like that. He's very "glass is half empty"and the 'love' that Hermione gives him isn't going to change that.. maybe a tiny itty bitty bit but not as much that gets written... but it's still a fun read!!
I've reading a story on Ashwinder now called The Panther and the Lioness that, so far is really really good! _________________ ~*~ Beth ~*~ |

I like fanfiction when there are dialogues and the people are in character of the books. When the characters are only used to write plain porn I do not like fanfiction. I am surprised how many fans come up with really good scenes that might have been in the books. Simple things, like an explaination for Neville's many accidents - lack of awareness and self-confidence in the strong magical power in him. Like being so nervous about flying that he cannot control the broom. If he had next to no magic in him he would have had to stay on the ground instead of going off and not being able to come down. I do not like the idea of a teacher having an affair with a student. That is not only the lawyer in me that gets angry. One of the two purposes in the life of Snape is to keep his students safe (from themselves and from YKW) (Although I have to admit that his words can be very mean). Why should he be a character who trespasses tabus like that. That is as bad as incest. _________________ Alan Rickman('s) Acting touches nerves you have absolutely no control over. |

When I first start looking at Fan Fics I thought "What?? Hermione and Snape??" then I read one, because I couldn't find alot of other stuff on him (and I'm not into the guy/guy slash stuff), and the ones I've read, she's not still a student, she's overage, but maybe realised she had always had some sort of feelings for Prof. Snape in the past.
I, of course, was one of those girls, that always had a crush on a teacher, or coach, or even when I was 13, my bus driver (who was in his 20's and darn cute!!, I still have a picture of him!). I've always liked older guys! (I was a very young 19 -barely-when I met my husband, who was a very experienced and old 25- who seemed much older to me!)
So to me, now those stories are not so far fetched at all. But, I like the idea of a new teacher coming to Hogwarts and catching his eye, too.
I wish I could write some myself, I've always wanted to write a romance novel, but I'm too lazy!!

Haha. I'm trying to write my own.. I love the WIKTT Marriage Law Challenge but the hard part is trying to write something that doesn't 'borrow' from what some other writers have done. _________________ ~*~ Beth ~*~ |

Nope no one will convince me that Hermione Granger and Severus Snape are a good matche. She is too young! I just don't see him with a that girl.
And besides that doesn't leave the imagination open for a fictional character to imagin some one else (like me or you) to take the role of. ;-) _________________ Benalinae |

Maybe some hot redhaired nurse takes over for Madame Pomfrey...
Or maybe some hot redhaired reporter takes over for Rita Skeeter...

hey...Madame Pomfrey is getting kind of old! and that new nurse would have to work very closely with Prof. Snape to get new potions to heal all those poor students getting into all those accidents... |

That 1st story that was posted on here was wonderful. NO harsh sexuality, just pure gitty romance. LIke it was thre first time falling for anyone. I ADORED it. IT took me 3 days to finiish it but it was so worth it. IF you find anymore along the lines Awesome. I dont mind who he is paired up with aslong as it isnt slash! Y UCK i am sorry just not my thing. Hermionie is sometimes a bit annoying and predictable. But it works. Who else could sev hook up with. HOw avout just someone out the blue out of his past. Before lilly I would love to right soething post cannon, about the love of him and lilly. THat would be awesome. thank you catfish for finding this gem!
Ps. Make sure you have the willpower to walk away for a while becuse its so captavating youdont want to leave and then you find your self waseting away the day reading!

It's kinda a scary thing going into a fan fiction for the first time... cause some writers like to write their own 'events'... such as how the Golden Trio "really" met and whatnot and you're sitting there going "But, wait... JKR said that that was never gonna happen!" .. but then you kinda get use to it... then the fun part comes... trying to figure out what is cannon (what's been written or said as fact by JKR) and what isn't because you've read so many stories and get things mixed up LOL
For a first timer, I'd start with something small, like maybe a 100 word drabble and then work your way up. there are some VERY good drabbles... but the ones that I like are really sad LOL
Here's a couple of ones that I rather enjoyed.
A Child's Play
A Leap Back in to Faith
Escape This one is VERY sad but it's one of my favorites _________________ ~*~ Beth ~*~ |
