| with mrsa around, it may be safer to go home asap. From what I've heard, it's a major problem in this country, don't know about other countries though. |

I had c-sections for both my guys- left after 2 days for the 1st and 1 1/2 days for the second. I FLED the hospital as fast as I could, LOL!!
The doctor did decide to keep my sister-in-law another day because her blood count and blood pressure are not yet at levels that make him happy. I was a bit worried about her when I saw her last night because she was VERY pale and her lips were a bit purplish. So I'm glad he kept her for tonight too.
My nephew is doing even better today. He is needing the O2 less often and is eating by bottle. Thankfully he did not need the feeding tube.
So I am slowly, cautiously beginning to see the silver lining!! Thanks again for the well-wishes. _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure. ~ Alan Rickman |

It's a good sign if they're giving him a bottle, because you never feed sick babies. If they have breathing problems, they shouldn't be eating, so that's good that he is.
And, Skittle, yes MRSA is a problem here, too. anyone who has any sort of wound has to be cultured. Lots and lots of women who get "boils" from shaving or just in the pubic area (yea gross, I know!) are MRSA positve. And, they do a nasal culture, because that's where it is carried. Probably half of everyone is a carrier, and just doesn't know it. _________________ ~~~Nora~~~

...And that was the latest installment of Nora's Yummy Thoughts for the Day...
I used to work in a nursing home, and a lot of patients had MRSA... AWFUL! And very hard to cure.
The baby might be coming home Sunday. We all have fingers crossed and hope he continues to improve to the point that he can be released then!! _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure. ~ Alan Rickman |

Yeah... I remember some of the yuckified smells from the nursing home... I was an activities worker with the Alzheimer's/Dementia patients and I was exposed to my share of nastiness then - I can't imagine being a nurse doing the hands-on care. I give you ALL the credit in the world! _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure. ~ Alan Rickman |

Goodness, things have been happening while I was away!! I hope mother and baby are both doing well. It does seem he is improving, I am sure all will be well in just a few days.

Update: My sister-in-law is home from the hospital, but the baby is still in. He was doing well, but his O2 level dipped a little last night, so he needed oxygen by nose again. Still is eating well, etc. They had thought he may be able to come home Sunday, but are now thinking possibly Wednesday.
Thanks again for the prayers and well-wishes! _________________ I want to swim in both directions at once. Desire success, court failure. ~ Alan Rickman |

Ever the one for controversy, I've found myself in it again. I lost my job Monday night. The manager of the shop said that seeing as I was the only full time employee and made $0.25 more an hour than the two part-timers they had expected me to sell more stuff and I was not making them enough money. Then he claimed that a customer complained about me being rude to them. I was shocked. I have never been anything but kind, outgoing and helpful. He then said he was surprised as well as I am "such a nice person" and that he had had customers tell him that I was a good sales associate. I asked him for the details so I could give my side of whatever happened and to correct my behaviour if it was indeed bad. He refused. He also has his surveillance tapes but had not even watched them yet.(?) I was humiliated and cried the rest of the night. I have terminated people but I have never been terminated myself before. I don't understand why he never gave me a sales target and I really don't understand why he will not tell me what I supposedly did wrong. How can I learn from mistakes if I don't know what they are? I told him this too. He said I should go back to Human Resources or management as that seems to be were my talents are. Then he said he'd give me a reference!? I was very emotional and he had the audacity to say that I "only had five more weeks of work to go anyway." He said he'd "never done this before" (firing people) and that was evident. He broke the law.
Here's the controversy: In Ontario the law states that an employee has to be given a verbal warning first and a corrective action plan laid out. The employee then has a chance to correct their behaviour. The second warning is written and the employee has to sign it. These warnings have to be documented. If there is a sales target it must also be in writing and signed by the employee. None of this took place. So now it is in the hands of the government agencies in charge of labour laws and employee standards as a wrongful dismissal suit. I do not have to pay for this but it could take many weeks to settle. Do you have any idea how hard it was to walk down the street and keep my head held high and to have to tell my friends and family why I lost my job? People seemed pretty surprised I was considered 'rude' to any one. Well, those are nice sentiments but that won't get me a new job. Anyway, I've already put some resumes out. Wish me luck with this mess. I'll keep you posted. _________________

I'm so sorry, Semp, that must have been just awful! That manager sounds like a jerk, acting like that!
Hope that you will find a new, better job soon and that everything works out to the best.
Hugs!!! |

How dreadful for you Semp!!
At least it's in the hands of the law now, and it WILL fall in your favour because you've done nothing wrong.
He cannot produce written warnings that YOU haven't signed....therefore he has no proof he's followed correct procedure.
You CAN hold your head up high, because you are a VICTIM....you've done nothing wrong, you have no reason to feel ashamed!!
Good Luck with a new job! _________________ Alan Rickman...*sigh*... enough said.

It seem to me that he is in the wrong too!! I'm sure the authorities will find in your favour.
Keep your spirits up.

So sorry to hear about this, Semp. I think that he had other reasons to fire you than those he claimed, I can't believe you were rude and customers complained about you. I've never seen you being rude to anyone on this board, so why should you be in your job?
His true reasons probably didn't have anything to do with you at all. Hope the authorities will decide in your favour. _________________

Poor Semp! It definitely sounds like you're the victim here, Jackie is right, you have nothing to be ashamed of. It seems slightly odd though, almost as if he didn't want to fire you-the fact that he has offered to give you a reference and said it was odd for someone to complain about your rudeness. Sounds a bit fishy to me. Those are not the actions of someone who would sack you without warning surely?
anyway, I really hope they rule in your favour, this is a terrible blow to a clean record, but I'm sure everything will be ok, try and keep your head up! |

Semp, I'm so sorry to hear all this!
It definitely sounds fishy to me, too. I'm glad you have a labor board to go to, and I hope it gets straighten out, and at least your name gets cleared. And, good luck in the job hunt, maybe a much better one is waiting, and this just opened the door for you. _________________ ~~~Nora~~~
